Dr. Wyatt's Personal Profile
Dr. Wyatt completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Chicago (B.A., 1952; B.Sc., 1954) and Christ's College, Cambridge. He obtained his Master's degree from the University of Illinois in 1956 and his PhD from Florida State University in 1959.
In 1965, Dr. Wyatt became one of the 15 nominees for the National Academy of Sciences' astronaut selection program.

Dr. Philip Wyatt, Chairman and Founder of Wyatt Technology, has been awarded the American Physical Society's 2022 George E. Pake Award, which recognizes his outstanding achievements in the field of light scattering and combines his research findings with commercial products, ranking high in the industry.
The Pake Award is named after George E. Pake, a physicist and founding director of industrial research at Xerox. Since its establishment in 1983, its selection criteria have been outstanding original research and outstanding physicists who have developed and progressed. Previous winners include C. Paul Robinson, Director of Sandia National Laboratory, and Robert Alan Frosch, NASA Administrator during the Carter administration.
In the late 1960s, Dr. Wyatt founded his company Science Spectrum and developed the first commercial multi angle light scattering instrument that integrated laser light sources and microprocessors. In the early 1980s, he founded Wyatt Technology Corporation, which has since become a service provider in the field of multi angle light scattering (MALS) combined with liquid chromatography separation (from size exclusion chromatography to field flow separation).
Although widespread adoption still takes many years, combining multi angle light scattering (MALS) with HPLC has become a common choice for thousands of laboratories worldwide. More than 17000 peer-reviewed publications on this topic emphasize the importance of this science and technology.
