The Second Food Safety Rapid Testing Competition of the 2025 BRICS Competition has opened at Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Trade

On November 21, 2025, the 2025 the Belt and Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition - the second national final of the fast food safety testing competition was officially opened in Qingyuan Campus of Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Trade. The competition aims to promote the technical exchange and skill development in the field of food safety between the "the Belt and Road" and BRICS countries, and is committed to training and selecting high-quality food safety technical talents, serving the national strategy and international talent training needs.

Guests including Wang Xiao, Deputy Director of the Domestic Competition Office of the Executive Committee of the BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition, Liu Sijia, Vice President of Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Trade, Deng Yicai, Chief Referee of the Competition, Shi Song, Chairman of Guangdong Dayuan Oasis Food Safety Technology Co., Ltd., and Ren Jiyu, Director, attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Professor Chen Jinhui, Dean of the School of Food at Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Trade.

Vice President Liu Sijia stated in his speech that the school attaches great importance to and fully guarantees the organization of various aspects of the competition. He emphasized that food safety is closely related to the national economy and people's livelihood, and vocational colleges shoulder the important mission of cultivating practical and innovative skilled talents. I hope to take the competition as an opportunity to further promote innovation in the application of detection technology, deepen the integration of industry and education, and forge more high-quality talents with craftsmanship spirit for the industry.

Liu Zhenying, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Organizing Committee of the BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition, President of the the Belt and Road and BRICS Skills Development International Alliance, and Leader of the Chinese Working Group on Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation of the BRICS Business Council, addressed the event via video. He said that the the Belt and Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition is an important competition outcome approved by the BRICS Business Council and jointly implemented by the Working Group on Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation of the BRICS Business Council (each country). It is also a long-term cooperation mechanism to promote educational cooperation, skills development, joint training of future skilled personnel, sharing of best practices in innovative technology and people to people exchanges among BRICS countries.

At the opening ceremony, representatives of the referees and contestants respectively took oaths, promising to officiate impartially and participate in the competition with civility.

This finals attracted more than 500 teachers and students from 23 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, and 75 higher vocational colleges across the country. During the two-day competition, contestants will compete in key projects such as organic phosphorus pesticide residues, detection of lead and cadmium in food, and rapid detection of metronidazole. The competition content closely follows the actual needs of the industry, comprehensively testing the theoretical foundation, operational skills, and professional ethics of the contestants.

The competition was hosted by the Chinese Council of the BRICS Business Council, the the Belt and Road and BRICS International Alliance for Skills Development, the "the Belt and Road" and the BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Training Center, co sponsored by the Chinese Invention Association and the Ministry of Education's Chinese and Foreign People to People Exchange Center, undertaken by the Chinese Working Group on Skills Development, Applied Technology and Innovation of the BRICS Business Council, and co hosted by Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Trade, Guangdong Dayuan Oasis Food Safety Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Jiake Emerging Technology Co., Ltd., and Xiamen BRICS Future Skills Development and Technological Innovation Institute.
