Promote the construction of green manufacturing system in the steel industry, assist in gas desulfurization and low-carbon smelting

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting High Quality Development of the Steel Industry" (draft for comments), which mentions deepening the construction of a green manufacturing system in the steel industry, improving energy and resource utilization efficiency, and increasing the level of greenization. Comprehensively promote the circulation of sintering flue gas, fine desulfurization of blast furnace gas, and efficient desulfurization and denitrification technology of sintering heads, establish an integrated innovation system for carbon control monitoring and evaluation of the entire steel production process, promote the market-oriented trading of carbon emission rights in the steel industry, and comprehensively promote the ultra-low emission transformation of the steel industry. On June 11, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Standard Conditions for the Coking Industry", stating that "high-quality development" will increasingly demand higher standards from the coking industry. It is expected that there will be 800 steel sintering flue gas desulfurization and denitrification renovation projects during the 14th Five Year Plan period, with a cumulative investment of 32 billion yuan; 900 steel coke oven flue gas desulfurization and denitrification renovation projects, with an investment of 18 billion yuan; 950 blast furnace gas desulfurization projects with an estimated investment of 10 billion yuan. The low-carbon transformation of the steel and coking industries is a long and arduous task.
