How to properly maintain a metal rotor flowmeter

1. Metal tube float flowmeter belongs to precision equipment, so it must be handled gently during transportation, installation, storage, and use to prevent rough transportation, over stress installation, and disorderly placement on the ground. It is necessary to ensure that the relative position of the indicator and sensor cannot be changed. Once the relative position changes, it will directly affect the measurement accuracy of the instrument.
2. Metal tube float flow meters usually do not require maintenance. However, during long-term use, ferromagnetic substances are inevitably adsorbed on the float in the pipeline. If there are too many impurities, the float will get stuck or affect the measurement accuracy. Therefore, the sensor of the flowmeter needs to be cleaned. If a magnetic filter is installed at the inlet of the flowmeter, it should also be cleaned regularly. The flow meter or filter must be removed from the pipeline during cleaning.
3. For electric remote transmission and flow meters with alarm limit switches, before use, open the instrument cover and wire them correctly according to the instructions. For alarm type limit switches, users can set the limit alarm position as needed, tighten the screw, and use it after restoration.
When used for gas measurement, it should be ensured that the pipeline pressure is not less than 5 times the instrument pressure loss to ensure stable float operation. Generally, instruments for measuring gases are equipped with gas dampers to minimize float oscillation to the maximum extent possible. To further ensure the stability of the float, a throttle valve or appropriate orifice plate can be installed at the outlet of the flowmeter.
5. When using a metal tube float flowmeter, the valve should be slowly opened and closed to avoid damage to the instrument. If the flowmeter is turned on, due to the lack of pressure in the pipeline or the system not reaching the working pressure for normal use of the instrument, the control valve must be slowly opened until the system is normal before the instrument can be used. Otherwise, it is easy to cause pointer jumping or sudden impact of the float and damage.
When using, if the density of the measured fluid is different from that of water, or the parameters and working conditions of the measured gas are different from those specified by the manufacturer, the reading of the flowmeter should be converted. The conversion method is described in the correction.
