Synthetic biology is considered to have the magical power to transform "decay" into "new", and has begun to penetrate various markets, affecting various aspects such as medicine, chemicals, food, environment, energy, and agriculture. It is a rapidly developing interdisciplinary field. According to the Synthetic Biology Global Market Report 2022, it is expected that the global market for synthetic biology will reach 33.63 billion US dollars by 2026.

How to "extract" the production and synthesis potential of microorganisms, process developers are tirelessly conducting massive engineering trial and error experiments in order to empower the pharmaceutical industry with faster speed and lower cost. Eppendorf has invited three industry experts to create a premium lecture on June 29th (Thursday) at 19:00 titled "The Future Shines into Reality: When the pharmaceutical industry begins to discuss" synthetic biology ". Looking forward to your participation as we explore the magical power of synthetic biology together.

Guest Introduction

Shi, Master, and PhDProfessor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology and founder of Heyao Biotechnology. Shi Shuobo and his research group are mainly engaged in basic and applied research in metabolic engineering, systems biology, and synthetic biology, constructing and transforming microbial cell factories. Specifically, it includes establishing genome editing technologies represented by CRISPR, excavating genome functional elements, reconstructing biosynthetic pathways, regulating and modifying lipid metabolism, protein engineering, system metabolic engineering, etc. In some areas, the research level is at the forefront of the international community. These preliminary studies have not only accumulated a large number of biological components, but also developed and established various new technologies and methods to assist in the construction and optimization of microbial cell factories. At present, Professor Shi has received 8 national and provincial-level funds, including the National Natural Science Foundation, and has published nearly 30 SCI papers on related achievements, including high-level journals in this field such as Nat. Commun., Metab. Eng., Biotechnol. Bioeng., and Appl. Energ; Authorize one project in Europe; Since 2018, I have been serving as an editor for the SCI journal BMC Biotechnology in the field of genomic technology and molecular diagnostics. In 2019, I was invited to become the founding editor of the journal "Synthetic Biology".

Chai BaozhongPhD, Associate Researcher, currently at Puli Pharmaceutical(Code: 300630) Director of Biotechnology Research Institute, Industry Guidance Teacher for Master's Degree in Biology and Medicine at the School of Bioengineering, Zhejiang University of Technology. After graduating with a PhD, he successively worked at listed pharmaceutical companies Haizheng Pharmaceutical and Puli Pharmaceutical, dedicating himself to product development and R&D management in the biopharmaceutical field for a long time. During this period, he led a team to complete multiple international innovative drug projects, international CRO/CMO projects, enterprise synthetic biology projects, etc., effectively promoting the clinical research progress of new drugs and the landing and production of industrial projects. Currently, I am in charge of product development in the biotechnology field at Puli Pharmaceutical.

Zhou Xianli, Eppendorf's biotechnology department is an application technology expert who, during his work, helps clients establish production and research and development processes related to reactor cell culture in fields such as vaccines, antibodies, and synthetic biology. Zhou Xianli graduated from East China University of Science and Technology and has previously worked in ChinaPharmaceutical companies engaged in the research and development of biopharmaceuticals and pilot scale-up, promoting the completion of IND applications for two new drugs.
