The key step in cellular gene therapy is to use viral vectors for immune cell editing, and then deliver the edited cells with targeted effects or gene drugs directly to target tissues or cells. Therefore, viral safety, genotoxicity (tumorigenicity), and immunotoxicity have received widespread attention, and selecting and constructing suitable, safe, and effective vector systems has become a very important task in cellular gene therapy.

The concept of "quality comes from design" is applicable to production processes and early research and development. Studying and clarifying the key quality attributes of cell gene therapy products in the early research and development stage is conducive to a deeper understanding of the correlation between product quality attributes and clinical safety and effectiveness.
