Application of colorimeter in textile and clothing industry

It can be said that in recent years, the textile and clothing industry has become increasingly demanding with the improvement of people's living standards and changes in consumer attitudes. In today's rapidly changing and fiercely competitive world market environment, the textile and clothing production chain is facing issues of color management and communication. The use of colorimeters and quality control software to form a color management system can be considered a fast and effective method to solve this problem. Digital and intelligent color management solutions have the advantages of being faster, more accurate, and more flexible, which can help companies accelerate color development, shorten product launch cycles, improve product quality, and reduce costs.

The supply chain of the textile and clothing industry involves multiple links, from design, procurement, logistics to distribution, etc. Any mistake in any link can affect the final effect, causing it to deviate from the standards initially formulated by clothing designers and brand owners. With the vigorous development of economic integration, the textile cross-border procurement supply chain system, characterized by decentralized production and complex communication channels, poses higher challenges to all enterprises in the supply chain. This is also why in recent years, color detection equipment and systems such as colorimeters have been introduced, and today's rapid trend following ability and supply chain management have become the winning magic in the market.

For the textile and clothing industry, color is an important attribute and visual evaluation element of its appearance, and its impact on clothing is self-evident. Consumers first consider color when purchasing textile and clothing products. Moreover, color is a crucial factor in the development of textile products, and using color design to create personalized and differentiated innovative products has become an effective commercial tool.

The application, quality control, and communication of colors run through the entire textile and clothing supply chain. The traditional color approval mode is based on multiple exchanges of opinions, and its process is as follows:

(1) Design phase: Textile designers create samples with color information from color cards, paper patterns, fabrics, etc., and then submit the samples to the procurement department;

(2) Procurement stage: The procurement department sends color cards or standard color samples to fabric suppliers or traders to confirm the required colors;

(3) Production stage: After receiving the standard sample, the supplier will immediately arrange the laboratory to match the color and make samples, and repeatedly compare and modify the formula with the standard sample before making samples. When the color of the small sample looks similar to that of the standard sample, it will be sent to the customer for color verification. Only after passing the inspection can mass production begin (the head cylinder sample needs to be confirmed first). If the sample does not meet the customer's requirements, the process of color matching and sampling needs to be repeated until the customer confirms.

The introduction of colorimeters is the digitization of abstract color information. Color digitization refers to the use of chromaticity data (L * a * b * C * h *, XYZ) to identify colors, which is a prerequisite for remote color transmission. The intelligentization of color refers to the use of electronic information technology for color recognition, color measurement and matching, and color data transmission, making color communication more convenient. It can be seen that the digital and intelligent application of color has broken the traditional interaction mode, making rapid response possible and adapting to the needs of today's textile and clothing supply chain.
