What aspects are related to the accuracy of a flow integrator
Date: 2025-10-21Read: 1
The following is an analysis of the key influencing factors on the accuracy of the flow integrator, covering its core components, working environment, and operation and maintenance management dimensions, aiming to systematically explain the technical path to improve measurement accuracy:
1、 Sensor performance and selection adaptability
As the front-end core of traffic collection, the type of sensor and the matching degree of working conditions directly determine the reliability of the raw data. For example:
The electromagnetic flowmeter needs to have a measured medium conductivity of ≥ 5 μ S/cm. If used for non-conductive oil media, it will fail;
Although the Coriolis mass flowmeter has high accuracy, viscous media are prone to deposit on the U-shaped tube wall, resulting in resonance frequency shift;
The vortex flowmeter is sensitive to the lower limit of flow velocity, and the Strouhal number fluctuates violently at low flow rates. It is necessary to ensure that the Reynolds number is greater than 2 × 10 ⁴.
Selection criteria: Select the appropriate type based on the characteristics of the medium (conductivity/corrosiveness/solid content), process pipe diameter, and flow rate range to avoid introducing inherent errors due to physical limitations.
2、 Installation specifications and flow field stability
Flow distortion caused by incorrect installation accounts for over 60% of on-site failures:
Requirements for straight pipe section: The orifice plate/Venturi tube should have a straight pipe section of 10D to 5D, otherwise vortex shear flow will cause distortion of differential pressure signals;
Flow consistency: Target flow meters must be installed strictly horizontally, and tilting beyond ± 5 ° will result in additional gravity errors;
Vibration suppression: When there is pump body vibration near the turbine flowmeter, a pulsation attenuator needs to be installed, otherwise bearing wear will accelerate and cause measurement jumps.
Typical misconception: Neglecting the concentricity of the pipeline, causing the flange gasket to protrude into the pipe and resulting in local diameter reduction, causing the actual flow area to deviate from the calibration value.
3、 Dynamic compensation capability for process parameters
A single flow signal cannot cope with complex working conditions, and a multi parameter coupling compensation mechanism is crucial:
Temperature and pressure compensation: The gas flow rate requires real-time collection of temperature and absolute pressure, and the standard condition volume is converted according to the ideal gas state equation PV=nRT;
Density correction: For every 10 ℃ increase in temperature of liquid hydrocarbon media, the volume expands by about 0.8%. Failure to compensate will result in a cumulative mass error of over 1%;
Energy conservation verification: By comparing the square relationship between upstream and downstream pressure drop and flow velocity, the opening ratio of the throttling device can be reverse verified to ensure compliance with the ISO5167 standard.
Advanced application: Using neural network algorithms to establish a historical database and automatically identify the weight allocation of compensation coefficients under abnormal working conditions.
4、 Stability and anti-interference design of electronic devices
The electromagnetic environment in industrial sites is complex, and the anti-interference ability of electronic devices directly affects the accuracy of AD conversion
Power supply quality: When the ripple voltage is greater than 0.1% of the rated voltage, the zero drift of the analog circuit can reach 0.2% of the full range;
Signal shielding: Flow signal lines that do not use twisted pair shielded cables will be subject to high-frequency common mode interference near the frequency converter;
Grounding specification: The grounding loop formed by multiple grounding points will generate a millivolt potential difference, which is equivalent to applying false excitation voltage to the sensor.
Solution: Choose a digital transmitter with photoelectric isolation, and use the HART protocol digital bus for signal transmission to significantly reduce the probability of interference.
5、 Calibration traceability and full lifecycle management
The accuracy of measuring instruments depends on a complete value transmission system:
Laboratory calibration: Use a bell jar gas flow standard device or a weighing method liquid calibration device, with an uncertainty of less than 0.3%;
Online real liquid calibration: At least once a year, perform uninterrupted calibration under pressure to verify the characteristic curve under working conditions;
Wear compensation: After the clearance between the bearings of the rotor flowmeter increases, the speed flow correspondence relationship needs to be recalibrated.
Document management: Establish equipment archives that include factory certificates, previous calibration certificates, and maintenance records to ensure a complete traceability chain of measurement values.
6、 Algorithm and Data Processing Logic
The traffic accumulation in the digital age has surpassed the simple accumulation function:
Filtering algorithm: using a combination of sliding average and wavelet transform filtering to effectively suppress peak pulses caused by pump valve switching;
Nonlinear correction: Perform polynomial regression fitting on the quadratic curve characteristics of the turbine flowmeter;
Fault diagnosis: Set a reasonable threshold to monitor abnormal states such as signal disconnection and no-load overspeed, to avoid the accumulation of erroneous data.
The accuracy of a flow integrator is the result of the synergistic effect of five aspects: sensor performance, mechanical installation, electronic processing, software algorithms, calibration and maintenance. In practical engineering, it is necessary to establish a full process control system from design selection to operation and maintenance, especially focusing on the three key links of temperature and pressure compensation, anti-interference design, and periodic calibration, in order to ensure the long-term stable operation of the metering system.
