What is the difference between a high-speed rotary grinder and a three-dimensional vibration screening instrument?
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 0

The core difference between high-speed rotary grinder and three-dimensional vibration screening instrument lies in their functional positioning: the former focuses on "crushing and grinding the sample to a fine particle size" and is a "crushing equipment" for sample pretreatment; The latter is a "sorting equipment" for sample separation, with the core of "grading and screening mixed materials by particle size". There are significant differences between the two in terms of working principles, core applications, key parameters, and other dimensions.

1. Core function and purpose: crushing vs sorting
The essential functions of the two are completely different, which determines their different roles in the experimental process.
Device Typecore functionalitytypical use
High speed rotary grinder: using high-speed rotating cutting tools/hammers/grinding discs to impact, shear, and grind block and granular samples, crushing them to smaller particle sizes (usually up to tens of micrometers)
1. Fine crushing pretreatment of soil, ore, and plant samples (such as subsequent elemental analysis and spectral detection);
2. Grinding of food and pharmaceutical raw materials (such as grain crushing, tablet grinding into powder);
3. The crushing of solid waste such as plastic and rubber facilitates subsequent component recycling or testing.
Three dimensional vibration screening instrument: using three-dimensional vibration (horizontal, vertical, inclined direction composite motion) to drive the sieve to classify mixed particle size samples and separate components in different particle size ranges
1. Particle size sorting of ground samples (such as separating soil powder below 200 mesh from coarse particles);
2. Purity screening of powder materials (such as removing coarse impurities and clumps from drug powders);
3. Particle size classification of materials in industrial production (such as particle size control of pigments and abrasives).
2. Working principle: Active crushing vs. vibration sorting
The working mechanisms of the two are based on different physical interactions, which directly affect the processing effect and applicable sample types.
High speed rotating grinder: active crushing, relying on mechanical force
Power source: The motor drives the rotor (with cutting tools, hammer blades, or grinding rings) inside the grinding chamber to rotate at high speed (usually 1000-10000rpm).
Crushing method: Sample crushing is achieved through three types of mechanical forces:
Impact force: The high-speed rotating hammer strikes the block shaped sample, causing it to break;
Shear force: the gap between the cutting tool or grinding disc and the fixed cavity wall, which cuts and grinds the sample;
Friction force: The sample is squeezed and rubbed inside the grinding chamber, further refining the particle size.
Control particle size: By replacing different aperture sieves (located at the bottom of the grinding chamber), the maximum particle size of the final grinding product is controlled (fine powder is discharged through the sieve, while coarse particles continue to be ground in the chamber).
Three dimensional vibration screening instrument: passive sorting, relying on gravity and vibration
Power source: The motor drives the eccentric block to rotate, generating composite vibrations in horizontal, vertical, and inclined directions (with adjustable amplitude, usually 1-5mm).
Sorting method:
Vibration drives the screen frame (multi-layer stacking of screens with different aperture sizes) to perform three-dimensional motion, allowing the sample to be evenly dispersed and rolled on the screen surface;
Fine particles smaller than the sieve aperture, under the action of gravity and vibration, pass through the sieve aperture and fall into the lower receiving tray;
Coarse particles larger than the sieve aperture are left on the current sieve surface, ultimately achieving a classification of "one layer, one particle size".
Control particle size: By selecting sieves with different pore sizes (such as 10 mesh, 100 mesh, 200 mesh) and adjusting the vibration frequency and amplitude, the sorting efficiency and accuracy can be controlled.
