Common fault scenarios and countermeasures of XRF coating thickness gauge
Date: 2025-09-12Read: 0
XRF coating thickness gauge is a high-precision analysis equipment, and long-term use may cause malfunctions due to environmental, operational, or component aging. Timely investigation of hidden dangers can ensure measurement stability. This article summarizes common fault scenarios and corresponding solutions.
1、 Abnormal measurement data deviation
1. Substrate contamination
If the data continues to be high, it is necessary to check whether there are residual oil stains or oxide layers on the surface of the sample. Wipe with alcohol/acetone and re measure. If the difference is>5%, use sandpaper to gently polish the surface of the substrate to eliminate interference.
2. Calibration of standard samples has failed
Regularly calibrate with standard film. If the comparison deviation is greater than ± 10%, recalibration is required. Attention: When calibrating, choose a standard plate with the same substrate as the sample to avoid errors caused by material differences.
2、 Abnormal X-ray generator
1. Light tube aging warning
If the detection intensity is unstable (fluctuation>± 3%) and the timeout protection is frequently triggered (triggering frequency>1/hour), it is necessary to check the cumulative usage time of the light tube (>2000 hours, replacement is recommended).
2. Blockage of cooling system
When the temperature rise of the coolant is ≥ 15 ℃/hour, check whether the filter is clogged, clean or replace the filter element (recommended maintenance every 6 months).
3、 Detector abnormality
1. Increased noise interference
The baseline of the measurement signal is unstable (noise>baseline value ± 15%). First, check if the grounding is good, and then replace the preamplifier for testing (if the noise reduction is less than 10%, it is confirmed to be an amplifier fault).
2. Low counting rate
If the counting rate under the standard membrane is less than the set value of 60%, check whether the collimator is loose (use a torque wrench to recheck the tightening torque to 1.2N · m) or if the detector window membrane is contaminated (clean with a dust-free cloth).
4、 Mechanical motion system malfunction
1. Probe stuck
If the resistance of the measuring head movement is greater than 3kgf (empirical value), lubricate the guide rail and clean the debris in the guide rail groove. If the problem persists, check if the screw drive components are corroded.
2. X/Y axis offset
Observe whether the trajectory is complete in the empty running mode. If there is a drift trajectory (offset>± 0.5mm), calibrate the mechanical limit switch to the factory parameters.
5、 Software system abnormality
1. Risk of data loss
If sudden power outage causes data loss, enable automatic backup function (set external hard disk storage path). Check if the system supports breakpoint continuation function (currently standard on the model).
2. Measurement interface stuttering
When the response time of the operation is ≥ 3 seconds, close non essential background programs and upgrade the graphics card driver (common delay caused by insufficient graphics memory in old models).
Systematic maintenance and regular professional maintenance are key to ensuring the long-term stable operation of XRF coating thickness gauges. Establishing equipment status logs, combined with automated diagnostic tools, can quickly locate and eliminate hidden dangers, ensuring the continuous reliability of detection results.
