2、 Application

The Reflectoquant application instructions provide specific steps for sample preparation and detailed information on how to measure various parameters in agricultural, food and beverage, or disinfection residue control processes.

1. Agriculture: Controlling Nutrients in Soil and Plant Products

Like nitrogen, phosphorus is also a nutrient element that plants require in large quantities during their growth process. Overfertilization may occur in agricultural production, so analyzing these parameters is crucial.

2. Disinfection residue control: 0.1% peracetic acid is sufficient to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spore forming bacteria in the shortest possible time

Therefore, it is often used in infectious low-temperature disinfection processes such as beverage packaging bottles. Complete disinfection residue control includes analysis within high and low concentration testing ranges.

3. Food and Beverage

(1) Rapid quantitative analysis of hydroxymethylfurfural content in honey

The freshness of honey can be determined by measuring its hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) content. HMF is an organic compound produced during the dehydration process of fructose, such as heating for packaging convenience. HMF is almost undetectable in fresh honey, and then increases at a rate of about 2.3mg/kg/year (depending on storage temperature and pH value).

At 21 ℃, the HMF content can rise to 20mg/kg in just one year.

(2) Determination of Vitamin C in Food and Beverages

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a frequently tested parameter in many food and beverage industries. The reduction of this ingredient will cause a decrease in quality and taste, so it is necessary to test its content.

(3) Detecting Acrylamide

In fried or baked goods such as potato chips, the reaction between asparagine and reducing sugars (fructose, glucose, etc.) may produce acrylamide, which is considered a toxic carcinogen. Therefore, the reducing sugar in potatoes should not exceed the allowable amount.
