Purification type fume hoodThe cleaning of the cabinet should take into account the surface of the cabinet, the operating area, the ventilation system, and the pre-treatment of the filter material. This can ensure a clean experimental environment and extend the service life of the equipment. The following is a step-by-step cleaning guide:
1、 Preparation before cleaning
Power off and shutdown: Turn off the power supply and fan switch of the fume hood to ensure that the equipment is completely shut down and avoid safety hazards caused by accidental start-up during the cleaning process.
Protective equipment: Wear disposable gloves, goggles, and dust masks. If corrosive reagent residues are involved, additional chemical protective clothing should be worn.
Preparation of tools: prepare a fiber free soft cloth, neutral detergent, special glass cleaner, long handle brush, absorbent sponge, disinfection spray (75% alcohol or special laboratory disinfectant), and sealed garbage bags.
Material transfer: Remove unused reagents and instruments from the cabinet and place them in a temporary clean area to avoid contamination.
2、 Partition cleaning steps
1. Cleaning of operating area glass windows
First, dip a soft cloth into a specialized glass cleaner and evenly wipe the surface of the window glass to remove dust and residual traces of reagents;
For stubborn stains, leave the cleaning agent for 1-2 minutes and gently wipe it, avoiding using hard tools such as steel wire balls to scratch the glass;
Wipe off any residue of cleaning agent with a soft cloth soaked in clean water, and finally wipe dry with a dry cloth to ensure that the window is free of watermarks and stains, ensuring clear visibility.
2. Cleaning of the operating table and cabinet interior
If liquid reagents are spilled, first use a water absorbing sponge to absorb the liquid, and then wipe the contaminated area with a neutral cleaner;
For the interior walls and countertops of the cabinet, dip a soft cloth in diluted neutral cleaner and wipe them thoroughly in the order of "from top to bottom, from inside to outside";
Wipe the detergent foam with clean water, and then spray the surface evenly with disinfection spray. After standing for 10 minutes, wipe it with dry cloth to complete disinfection and sterilization.
3. Ventilation and cleaning around filter materials
Air inlet/outlet: Use a long handled brush to gently brush off the dust on the air inlet dust screen and air outlet grille. If the dust screen is detachable, it can be removed and rinsed with clean water. After drying, reinstall it;
Surface of filter material: For filter materials that have not reached the replacement cycle, compressed air (low-pressure mode) can be used to blow from the outlet side to the inlet side of the filter material to remove dust adhering to the surface (be careful not to damage the filter material with high-pressure airflow);
During cleaning, it is necessary to avoid the infiltration of cleaning agents or moisture into the interior of the filter material to prevent its failure.
4. Cleaning the exterior of the cabinet
Dip a soft cloth in neutral detergent to wipe the exterior panels, handles, and control panel shells of the cabinet;
The control panel needs to be lightly wiped with a semi dry soft cloth to avoid liquid infiltration and circuit failure;
After drying, simple dust removal can be carried out on the metal parts of the cabinet to keep the appearance of the equipment clean.
3、 Closing and precautions after cleaning
After cleaning, place the removed reagents and instruments in their original positions to ensure that the items inside the cabinet are neatly arranged;
Connect the power supply and test run the fume hood for 5-10 minutes to check if the fan and control system are functioning properly;
Cleaning frequency recommendation: Perform basic wiping after daily experiments, conduct a comprehensive cleaning once a week, and perform deep cleaning every month in conjunction with filter material inspection;
Prohibit the use of corrosive cleaning agents such as strong acids and alkalis to avoid damaging the cabinet coating and glass windows;
If there has been a leakage of toxic or highly corrosive reagents inside the cabinet, professional harmless treatment should be carried out first before routine cleaning.
