The widespread adoption of high-tech research results, interdisciplinary comprehensive design, and high-precision manufacturing technology have fundamentally transformed the field of instrumentation. Modern instruments and meters, as typical high-tech products, have broken through the traditional optical, mechanical, and electrical architecture and rapidly developed towards computerization, networking, intelligence, and multifunctionality. They are moving towards faster, more sensitive, more reliable, and simpler acquisition of information about the analyzed, detected, and controlled objects.
With the continuous expansion of microcomputer technology and network communication technology, testing instruments in the new century will be an open system concept. Scientific testing instruments are gradually moving from single intelligent to universal modular, and realizing plug and play, flexibly and conveniently forming automatic testing systems for different objects; Large scientific instruments that are difficult to achieve networking are developing towards higher measurement accuracy, reliability, and environmental adaptability. Their automation level is constantly improving and they generally have functions such as self compensation, self diagnosis, and self fault handling. In recent years, the emergence of contemporary technological achievements such as nanoscale precision machinery, modern chemistry at the molecular level, biology at the genetic level, and research results on high-precision and ultra performance special functional materials have led to the continuous development of instruments and meters into deeper fields.
Looking at the development history of instruments and meters, it can be concluded that the overall development trend of instruments and meters in the future is "six highs, one long, and twenty modernizations", that is, traditional instruments and meters are developing towards high performance, high precision, high sensitivity, high stability, high reliability, high environmental protection, and long service life; New types of instruments and components will move towards miniaturization, integration, completeness, electronicization, digitization, multifunctionality, intelligence, networking, computerization, comprehensive automation, and opto mechatronics integration; The development of specialization, simplification, family oriented, personalized, maintenance free services, as well as the direction of assembly production automation, dust-free (or ultra clean), specialization, and scale.
