Maintenance and upkeep of domestic film thickness gauge
Date: 2025-09-22Read: 1

The maintenance of domestic film thickness gauges is not only about cleaning their surfaces, but more importantly, regular calibration, inspection, and ensuring that the equipment operates in a suitable working environment. Here are several key methods for maintaining a film thickness gauge:

1. Cleaning and maintenance
The accuracy of instrument measurement is closely related to the cleanliness of the instrument surface. Any dust, oil stains, etc. attached to sensors, probes, or samples may cause measurement errors.
Cleaning probes and sensors: The probe is one of the key components, and keeping it clean is very important. Use a soft, fiber free cloth and appropriate cleaning agent to gently wipe the surface of the probe to avoid scratching the sensor. The probe should be checked regularly for dirt or oil stains, and cleaned with alcohol if necessary.
Cleaning the casing and display screen: Use a clean soft cloth to clean the casing and display screen to prevent liquids from entering the internal circuit and causing malfunctions.
Regularly check the light source and reflector: For film thickness gauges based on optical principles, cleaning the light source and reflector is particularly important. Regularly check for stains or dust on the reflector, use professional cleaning tools for cleaning, and ensure smooth light path.
2. Regular calibration
The accuracy of the instrument depends on precise calibration. Different instruments have different calibration cycles and usually need to be calibrated according to their frequency of use. During the calibration process, standard films or plates of known thickness should be used to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.
Regular calibration: Select appropriate time intervals for calibration based on the usage environment. For equipment with high precision requirements, it is recommended to calibrate it every three months.
Use standard membrane: During calibration, use a standard membrane with a known thickness for measurement. The measured value should be consistent with the thickness of the standard membrane. If the deviation is significant, it may be a problem with the sensor or other components that require repair.
Check calibration data: After each calibration, the data should be recorded and compared with the previous calibration data. If significant errors are found, the equipment should be checked and repaired in a timely manner.
3. Temperature and humidity management
The temperature and humidity of the working environment have a significant impact on its performance. High temperature or high humidity environments can affect the stability of domestic film thickness gauges and even lead to inaccurate measurement results.
4. Regularly check the battery and power supply
Usually powered by batteries or external power sources. Low battery power or unstable power supply can affect normal operation.
Check battery status: For battery powered devices, regularly check the battery level to avoid sudden shutdown caused by insufficient battery power. Regularly replace the battery and use the battery model recommended by the manufacturer.
Use a stable power supply: If using an external power supply, ensure the stability of the power supply. Unstable power supply voltage may cause abnormal startup or unstable operation.
Regular Charging: For rechargeable batteries, charge them regularly and ensure that the charger matches the instrument to avoid overcharging or overdischarging of the battery.
5. Sensor inspection
Sensors are the core components of measurement, and any aging or damage to sensors will directly affect measurement accuracy.
Check the wear of the sensor: During use, the sensor may experience wear due to frequent contact. Regularly check the sensor for obvious wear or aging, and replace it promptly if any abnormalities are found.
Calibrate sensor: If the sensor malfunctions, recalibration may be necessary. Check if the sensor's measurement value is consistent with the standard membrane, and if necessary, contact the manufacturer for maintenance.
6. Software updates and troubleshooting
Usually equipped with control software for data processing and analysis. Keeping software updated and maintained can improve device functionality and performance.
Regularly check for software updates: Manufacturers may release new software versions that provide better functionality and fix known faults. Regularly check and install new versions of software to ensure smooth operation.
Troubleshooting: When abnormalities occur, troubleshooting should be carried out based on the fault symptoms. Common faults include unstable measurement results, unresponsive display screens, and low battery levels. You can refer to the user manual for preliminary troubleshooting. If the problem cannot be solved, please contact the manufacturer for repair in a timely manner.
Through these meticulous maintenance work, the service life of domestic film thickness gauges can be effectively extended and the accuracy of their measurement results can be ensured. During daily maintenance, users should follow the instructions in the operation manual, regularly inspect the equipment, and promptly identify and resolve potential issues.
