Over the years, Sievers analyzer has grown from a startup with less than 20 employees to a company with a global sales and on-site service team. Our developed instruments have been adopted by some of the world's largest and top companies. To celebrate this achievement, let's review how the company's journey began.


The seeds of analysis

In 1975, the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) hiredDr. Bob SieversLead the reconstruction work of the Analytical Chemistry major in the Department of Chemistry. The university is particularly interested in his expertise in environmental trace analysis and his analysis of lunar rocks and dust brought back to Earth by early Apollo missions. After arriving in Boulder, Dr. Sievers' goal is to develop new analytical instruments with sensitivity and selectivity that have the potential to open up new fields of analysis and detection.


In 1984, nine years later, he co founded the Sievers analyzer with Dr. Misha Plam (CU), Dr. Ric Hutte (CU), Nancy Sievers, and Olga Plam, and received early funding from the Small Business Innovation Research Program in the United States. According to long-term employees' recollection, the original workspace only had a 10 foot x 10 foot manufacturing table. In the early stages, employees would ring the bell every time they received a purchase order to celebrate. Dr. Plam insists that every employee, regardless of their role or department, must understand how these instruments work. Therefore, all new employees need to manufacture instruments in the manufacturing department in the first few weeks.


This formula worked. Some of the initial instruments commercialized by Sievers included chemiluminescence detectors for nitric oxide, sulfur, fluorine sulfur, and redox reactions. The early commercial success of these instruments was the first oneSievers TOC analyzer 800typeThe development provided funding. Later, as part of a NASA contract, Sievers produced another early TOC analyzer, with the aim of developing an instrument to monitor the quality of drinking water in space. Sievers TOC A provides process monitoring for the recovery of drinking water used by astronauts on the International Space Station through the detection of TOC, conductivity, and pH values.


After 12 years of company construction, Sievers analyzer was acquired by Ionics in 1996. This is the first time in a series of acquisitions. Now, Sievers analyzer products have become part of Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions in 2022.

This includes cleaning validation, pollution control, rapid microbiological methods, final drug testing, raw material and intermediate testing, and real-time release testing.


Recently, with the latest updatesSievers Soleil Rapid Microbial DetectorWith the launch, Sievers' product line has been expanded, bringing more features to the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, including providing near real-time data for ultra pure water and microbial detection in manufacturing processes.
