Liquid turbine flowmeter is suitable for scenarios that require real-time monitoring of flow fluctuations
Date: 2025-05-27Read: 30
The advantage of liquid turbine flowmeter lies in its high precision and fast response characteristics. Due to the direct use of turbine speed as the measurement benchmark, its measurement accuracy can usually reach ± 0.5 to ± 1, especially suitable for scenarios that require real-time monitoring of flow fluctuations, such as oil transportation in petroleum refining processes or raw material ratios in chemical reactions. Under dynamic operating conditions, the turbine can quickly capture changes in flow rate and output signals synchronized with changes in flow rate, which is crucial for regulating the flow control system. For example, in pipeline oil transportation systems, turbine flow meters can provide real-time feedback on flow data, providing a basis for pump valve start stop and avoiding equipment damage caused by overload or flow interruption.
However, the performance of liquid turbine flow meters is also limited by fluid characteristics and installation conditions. Liquids with high viscosity, such as heavy oil or syrup, may increase the rotational resistance of the turbine, leading to increased measurement errors; However, liquids containing bubbles may disrupt the stability of the flow field due to turbulence, affecting the accuracy of turbine speed. Therefore, for special media, suitable models need to be selected, such as using high viscosity adaptive turbines or installing degassing devices. In addition, during long-term operation, turbine blades may change their geometric shape due to wear or corrosion, requiring regular calibration or replacement of sensor components to maintain measurement accuracy.
Calibration method for liquid turbine flowmeter:
-Preparation work: Disassemble from the site, clean the casing, impeller, and other components of the flowmeter to ensure that there are no impurities or dirt affecting the calibration results. At the same time, check the appearance of the flowmeter for any damage, such as cracks in the housing and deformation of the impeller. Prepare standard flow devices, such as standard volume tubes or standard flow meters, as well as related connecting pipelines, valves, pumps, and other equipment, to form a complete calibration system.
-Installation and connection: Install the verified liquid turbine flowmeter in the flow circuit of the verification system, ensuring that the inlet and outlet directions of the flowmeter are correct, the connection is well sealed, and there is no leakage. According to the requirements of the calibration system, connect the signal transmission line and connect the output signal of the turbine flowmeter to the data acquisition device.
-Zero point adjustment: Adjust the zero point of the turbine flowmeter in the absence of fluid flow. By operating the zero adjustment button or software settings of the flowmeter, the displayed reading of the flowmeter is set to zero. The accuracy of zero point adjustment is crucial for subsequent calibration results.
-Verification process: Start the pump of the verification system and allow the fluid to pass through the verified liquid turbine flowmeter and standard flow device at different flow rates. Record the measured values of the verified flowmeter and the standard flow device at different flow points. The selection of flow points should cover the entire range of the verified flowmeter, and multiple measurements should be taken at different flow rates and rates to ensure the reliability of the verification results.
-Data processing and result judgment: Based on the recorded data, calculate the error of the verified liquid turbine flowmeter at different flow points. The calculation formula for error is: (measured value of the verified flowmeter - measured value of the standard flow device)/measured value of the standard flow device multiplied by 100. Compare the calculated error with the accuracy level requirements of the turbine flowmeter. If the errors of all flow points are within the allowable range, the flowmeter is judged to be qualified for calibration; Otherwise, it will be deemed as unqualified.
