Installation process of plug-in electromagnetic flowmeter: A guide to avoiding pitfalls from selection to debugging
Date: 2025-05-30Read: 32
Plug in electromagnetic flowmeterIt has the advantages of easy installation and low cost, and is widely used in the field of industrial flow measurement. To ensure its accuracy and stability, the following full process installation guide should be followed to avoid common pitfalls.
1、 Selection stage: Clear requirements, precise matching
Flow range:
Select an appropriate plug-in electromagnetic flowmeter based on the actual flow range of the measured medium, ensuring that the flow range is within the measurement capability of the equipment.
Medium characteristics:
Consider the conductivity (≥ 5 μ S/cm), corrosiveness, wear resistance, and temperature of the medium, and select suitable lining and electrode materials.
Installation conditions:
Select the appropriate model based on pipeline size, installation method (such as online installation, offline installation), and grounding and shielding requirements.
Output signal:
Determine the required output signal type (such as 4-20mA two-wire system) to meet the system requirements.
2、 Installation phase: Standardized operation to ensure accuracy
Installation location selection:
Select an installation location with a fully developed flow field and no vortices or bubbles, avoiding installation near equipment such as bends, valves, pumps, etc.
Following the requirements for straight pipe sections, the upstream straight pipe section is usually not less than 10D (D is the pipe diameter), and the downstream straight pipe section is not less than 5D.
Direction and depth:
Ensure that the direction of the plug-in electromagnetic flowmeter is consistent with the flow direction of the pipeline, and adjust the insertion depth to the correct position according to the calibration certificate or instruction manual.
Prevent secondary flow:
When installing brackets or support structures, avoid applying uneven force to sensors to reduce the impact of turbulence.
Cable wiring:
Use appropriate shielded cables and wire them correctly according to the instructions to ensure stable signal transmission.
Grounding treatment:
The flow signal generated by the sensor is very weak and requires good grounding treatment to avoid electromagnetic interference.
3、 Debugging phase: meticulous calibration, stable operation
Zero point adjustment:
When there is no flow in the pipeline, adjust the zero point of the electromagnetic flowmeter to ensure that the output signal is zero.
Range setting:
Set the maximum measurement value (range) of the flowmeter according to the actual flow range that needs to be measured under working conditions, to avoid inaccurate or inaccurate readings.
Stability adjustment:
Adjust the output signal of the flowmeter to ensure stability for a certain period of time and avoid large signal fluctuations.
Observe the display screen:
After turning on, observe whether the display screen is displaying normally. When there is no fluid flow, the displayed value should be zero.
Check power and grounding:
Ensure that the power supply is in good contact, the voltage is within the specified range, and the grounding wire is in good contact.
4、 Avoiding pitfalls guide: common problems and solutions
Signal interference:
Avoid installation in environments with strong magnetic and electric fields to reduce electromagnetic interference.
Pipeline pressure:
During installation, try to temporarily reduce the pipeline pressure to ≤ 0.2Mpa (if shutdown is not allowed) to ensure safety.
Electrode scaling:
Regularly clean the electrodes to avoid scaling and affecting measurement accuracy.
Sealing inspection:
Check the sealing after installation to ensure no leakage.
Maintenance and Calibration:
Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate equipment to ensure long-term stable operation and accurate measurement.
