Saturated silver chloride electrodeIt is a reference electrode filled with a saturated potassium chloride solution.
Application Scenario:
Laboratory measurement: pH meter reference electrode (in combination with glass electrode).
Industrial monitoring: cathodic protection of buried pipelines, soil environment testing.
Maintenance and upkeep guide:
Daily usage precautions:
Avoid KCl crystallization: Ensure that the salt bridge solution is filled before use, and maintain the liquid level above the measured solution during measurement to prevent reverse osmosis. If bubbles appear, gently shake the electrode or bounce to make the bubbles float up.
Applicable environment: Only suitable for neutral solutions, avoid acidic/alkaline media, otherwise it may damage the electrode. High temperature environments require the use of other electrodes.
Short term storage: Immerse the liquid network into a corresponding concentration of KCl solution to avoid exposure to air that may cause the solution to evaporate.
Cleaning and replacement of salt bridge solution:
Cleaning method: Select cleaning solution according to the type of contamination (such as PBS solution for protein contamination). Severe scaling can be treated by soaking in a 5% HF solution for 10-20 minutes, followed by rinsing with water.
Replacement steps: Pull out the glass tube, extract the old solution, inject a new saturated KCl solution, and ensure there are no bubbles.
Long term storage method:
Sealed storage: When not in use for a long time, replace the salt bridge solution with a new one and seal it in the dark for storage. Or use an electrode sleeve containing 1/3 KCL solution for sealed storage.
Anti drying: Avoid electrode drying, otherwise KCL crystals will block the diaphragm and require re soaking for activation.
