Working principle and product series of SEKO metering pump
Date: 2025-09-12Read: 10

In modern chemical, water treatment, food and pharmaceutical industries, the precise addition of fluids is directly related to product quality, production safety, and operating costs. The SEKO metering pump from Italy, with its precision, extraordinary reliability, and innovative design, has become a core equipment in many critical processes worldwide.

1、 Brand Inheritance and Technical Heritage

SEKO Group was founded in Italy in 1976 and has been dedicated to the research and manufacturing of metering pumps and fluid dosing systems for over forty years. Nowadays, SEKO has established a comprehensive sales and service network in over 80 countries and regions worldwide, with 9 production bases and 16 subsidiaries. Its products have passed strict ISO9000 quality system certification, and each pump undergoes 100% testing before leaving the factory to ensure compliance with relevant international standards. This commitment to quality has made the SEKO brand synonymous with precision, reliability, and professionalism.

2、 Performance and technological innovation:

High precision metering: Using advanced electromagnetic drive technology or mechanical transmission systems, SEKO metering pumps can achieve precise flow control with an accuracy of up to ± 1%, far exceeding the industry average level. For example, its KOMBA DMS 200 4008-1 1 metering pump has this performance.

Wide adaptability: SEKO offers a diverse range of material options, such as stainless steel, PVC, PP, PTFE, etc., to meet the needs of transporting fluids with different corrosives, viscosities, and temperatures. Its product can handle media with a temperature range from -30 ℃ to 450 ℃, viscosity up to 800mm/s, and a maximum pressure of 64Mpa.

Intelligent control and connection: Many models support remote monitoring and adjustment, with a user-friendly interface that can directly respond to external 4-20mA signals and pulse control signals. Some models also come with a liquid level probe interface, providing convenience for achieving production automation and IoT integration.

Durable and Safe: The fully sealed casing design provides a protection level of up to IP65. The overpressure automatic protection function does not require additional safety valves, and the moving parts are simple and do not require lubrication, ensuring its long-term stable operation in harsh industrial environments.

3、 Working principle and product series of SEKO metering pump

Taking its mechanical diaphragm metering pump as an example: the motor decelerates through a worm gear and worm gear pair, driving a crank connecting rod mechanism to convert rotational motion into reciprocating linear motion, directly pushing (pulling) the diaphragm to oscillate back and forth. By the opening and closing action of the one-way valve (such as ceramic ball valve) on the pump head, vacuum adsorption and pushing are formed, thus accurately completing the process of liquid suction and discharge. Flow regulation can be achieved by rotating the adjustment handwheel to change the stroke length of the plunger or diaphragm, with an adjustment accuracy of up to 95%.

SEKO has a rich product line that comprehensively covers various application needs:

Electromagnetic driven diaphragm pumps: such as INVIKTA, Maxima, TEKNA, and KomBa series. The KomBa series is a microprocessor digital pump with the characteristics of simple operation and stable operation. The PVDF pump head and ceramic ball valve standard configuration provide extensive chemical compatibility.

Motor driven pumps: including Spring series plunger pumps (PS series) and mechanical diaphragm pumps (MS series). The MS series mechanical diaphragm pump has a spring reset mechanical device, which runs stably without noise and has precise flow rate.

• Complete solution: SEKO not only produces pumps, but also provides peristaltic pumps, pH meters, mixers, dosing buckets, dry powder preparation systems, and a complete set of integrated dosing solutions.

4、 Wide range of application areas:

• Water treatment: Used for precise addition of sodium hypochlorite, coagulants (PAC/PAM), lime slurry, phosphorus removal agent, carbon source, reverse osmosis scale inhibitor, etc. in municipal tap water, sewage/sludge treatment, and pure/ultrapure water preparation.

Chemical and petrochemical industries: used for adding catalysts to reaction vessels, acid-base neutralization, quantitative solvent injection, and adding methanol, corrosion inhibitors, and demulsifiers in oil and gas fields.

Food and Beverage: Plays a key role in CIP cleaning (NaOH, HNO), process flavoring, syrup, quantitative addition of vitamins and preservatives.

• Pharmaceutical and Biological: Used for nutrient salts, buffer solutions, acid-base regulation in fermentation tanks, as well as for dosing high-purity water systems that comply with GMP standards and meet strict regulatory requirements.

Other important industries include industrial circulating water treatment (corrosion inhibitors, fungicides), swimming pool water treatment (hypochlorous acid, pH regulators), agricultural water fertilizer integration, energy industry (photovoltaic cell electrolytes), shipbuilding and maritime (ballast water treatment), etc.

5、 Proper use and maintenance:

Installation: It needs to be installed on a suitable base, ensuring that the pump base is parallel to the piston shaft, perpendicular to the valve shaft, and the pump head is installed without pressure.

• Maintenance: Regularly inspect key components such as pump heads, diaphragms, valves, etc. to ensure no wear or leakage. For mechanical diaphragm pumps, the lubricating oil needs to be replaced after 1500 hours of operation, and then every 4000 hours or at least once a year thereafter. It is strictly prohibited to operate the pump in a non fluid state.

• Troubleshooting: Common issues such as low or no flow may be caused by blockages in the suction pipe, residual air, closed check valves, or inappropriate fluid viscosity. Specific troubleshooting and resolution are required based on the situation.
