The Tektronix AFG31000 arbitrary waveform generator, with its excellent signal generation capability, has become a core tool for complex modulation and real-time signal simulation, widely used in high-precision fields such as communication, medical, and automotive electronics. Its powerful functionality is not only reflected in the output of basic waveforms, but also in its precise support for complex modulation techniques and dynamic restoration of real scenes.

In terms of complex modulation, AFG31000 has comprehensive modulation capabilities. In analog modulation, AM, FM, and PM can be flexibly configured and are suitable for simulating traditional signals such as broadcasting and radar. Especially in FM modulation, by accurately setting the frequency offset and modulation signal frequency, the signal response under different channel conditions in wireless communication can be simulated. More importantly, its digital modulation function supports IQ modulation and can generate high-order modulation signals such as 16QAM and 64QAM. Users can import I/Q data in MATLAB or CSV format through the ArbBuilder tool, configure symbol rate, constellation diagram, and error vector magnitude (EVM), effectively evaluate receiver demodulation performance, and meet the simulation requirements of 5G base station OFDM signals.
The real-time signal simulation capability of AFG31000 is particularly outstanding. It has a built-in large capacity memory of 128M points and a high sampling rate of 2GSa/s. Combined with variable sampling technology, it achieves seamless reconstruction from nanosecond level pulses to continuous high-frequency signals. Capture real signals (such as motor starting current and collision acceleration curves) through an oscilloscope, save them as CSV files, and import them into the device to accurately reproduce complex dynamic processes. In automotive electronic testing, the pulse sequence or wheel speed sensor signal triggered by ABS can be simulated to achieve control unit response testing; In medical device simulation, a standard ECG waveform with superimposed Gaussian white noise can be generated to evaluate the anti-interference ability of the electrocardiograph.
To ensure simulation accuracy, AFG31000 adopts a multi technology collaborative waveform reconstruction algorithm. Adaptive interpolation technology automatically switches between cubic spline or wavelet transform interpolation based on signal frequency to ensure waveform smoothness and detail restoration. Built in adaptive filter and closed-loop correction mechanism effectively suppress noise and hardware distortion, with waveform fidelity better than 1%. At the same time, it supports external triggering and multi device synchronization to ensure timing consistency in complex testing scenarios.
In summary, AFG31000 is not only a signal source, but also a simulation platform that integrates algorithms, models, and hardware. By configuring modulation parameters reasonably, optimizing the waveform import process, and combining its high-precision DAC and real-time processing capabilities, engineers can efficiently build high fidelity complex signal environments, providing strong support for system validation and performance optimization.
