Industry value of graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometer: promoting standardization and sustainable development
Date: 2025-11-24Read: 1
Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometer is a highly sensitive elemental analysis technique, whose core principle is to atomize the elements to be measured in the sample through a graphite furnace, and then use the specific wavelength of light absorption characteristics for quantitative analysis. The significance of its use is reflected in technological advantages, industry value, and other aspects, as follows:
1、 Advantages of Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer Technology: Breaking through Traditional Detection Limits
1. Ultra high sensitivity
The detection limit is as low as ppb (parts per billion): Compared to the ppm (parts per million) level of flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS), the sensitivity of GFAAS is increased by 100-1000 times.
High atomization efficiency: Graphite furnace atomizes samples at high temperatures, reducing chemical interference, especially suitable for the detection of non-volatile elements such as arsenic and selenium.
2. The sample usage is extremely small
Micro upgrade sample requirements: Only 5-50 μ L of liquid or trace solid samples are needed, which can directly analyze precious samples such as blood, urine, and single cells, avoiding errors caused by insufficient sample size in traditional methods.
3. Strong anti-interference ability
Low matrix effect: Gradually remove matrix interference such as organic matter and salt through programmed heating (drying, ashing, atomization, purification four stages), especially suitable for complex matrix samples (such as wastewater, soil extracts).
Background correction technology: Equipped with deuterium lamps or Zeeman effect background correction systems, it can eliminate molecular absorption interference and improve signal-to-noise ratio.
2、 Industry value of graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometer: promoting standardization and sustainable development
1. Comply with international regulatory requirements
To meet the testing requirements of the EU RoHS directive (restricting six hazardous substances such as lead and mercury in electronic and electrical products) and REACH regulation (registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals), and to assist enterprises in export compliance.
2. Reduce testing costs and time
Low cost of single detection: Compared with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), GFAAS equipment has lower costs and maintenance expenses, making it suitable for popularization in small and medium-sized laboratories.
Fast analysis speed: The analysis time for a single sample is about 3-5 minutes, and with the help of an automatic sampler, high-throughput detection can be achieved (such as 96 well plate injection).
3. Support scientific research and industrial upgrading
Basic research tools: Provide quantitative data on trace elements for fields such as environmental science and toxicology, and promote theoretical research on heavy metal pollution mechanisms and bioaccumulation effects.
Industrial quality control: Establish rapid screening methods for element content in industries such as electroplating, metallurgy, and chemical engineering to improve product qualification rates and market competitiveness.
