Accurately understanding the explosive characteristics of flammable and explosive substances is crucial in high-risk industries such as chemical and military industries. As a specialized detection equipment, the explosion point tester can scientifically determine the explosive characteristics of substances under specific conditions, providing key data support for enterprise safety production management.

1、 Instrument principles and types
The explosion point tester mainly evaluates the explosion hazard of substances such as gases and vapors by measuring their explosion limits. The core principle is that a substance is indirectly heated in a constant temperature environment, and the time from the beginning of heating to the occurrence of an explosion is called the "explosion delay period", and the temperature of this medium is the explosion point under this delay period. Within a certain temperature range, the logarithm of the explosion delay period is linearly related to the reciprocal of the explosion point. At present, common instruments include two measurement methods: constant temperature method and cooling method, which can meet the testing needs of different substances.
Modern instruments have achieved fully automatic control by microcomputers, which can automatically control heating temperature, measure sample temperature, draw temperature change curves, and calculate test results. These instruments typically have a temperature resolution of 0.1 ℃ and a time resolution of 0.01 seconds, with a temperature control range of up to room temperature to 550 ℃, ensuring measurement accuracy.
2、 Usage and steps
Strict operating procedures must be followed when using the explosion point tester:
The first step is sample preparation.Prepare the sample according to the standard and mix it evenly. Spread the sample flat in a weighing bottle and place it in an explosion-proof oven to dry at 55 ℃~60 ℃ for 2 hours before cooling to room temperature. Weigh an appropriate amount of sample and place it at the bottom of a dry and clean explosion tube shell, laying it flat on the bottom and covering it with a copper plug.
Step two, prepare the instrument.Turn on the instrument and raise the temperature of the heating medium to the test temperature. According to standard requirements, the test temperature should maintain the explosion delay period of the tested substance between 3 seconds and 7 seconds. Check if all components of the instrument are functioning properly, especially the accuracy of the thermometer and timekeeper.
Step three, measurement operation.Insert the explosive shell containing the sample vertically into the heating medium of the measuring hole, with a depth of 25 millimeters, and start timing at the same time. Stop timing and record the temperature of the medium and the corresponding explosion delay period when the copper plug of the explosive shell is flushed out. In order to obtain accurate results, at least 5 temperature points should be set before and after the 5-second burst delay period for testing, and each temperature point should be measured at least twice.
Step four, data processing.Calculate the burst point of the 5-second delay period using graphical or least squares methods. The graphical method is to plot the logarithm of the delay period as the vertical axis and the reciprocal of the temperature as the horizontal axis, and find the temperature corresponding to the 5-second delay period on the curve; The least squares rule calculates the explosion point through regression equations.
3、 Safety precautions
When using instruments, safety is the primary consideration. Operators need to receive professional training, familiarize themselves with instrument operation methods and safety regulations. The testing environment should maintain good ventilation conditions and be equipped with necessary fire-fighting facilities. Develop a detailed testing plan, including testing time, location, personnel, safety measures, etc., to ensure that the testing process is controllable and reliable.
The application of the explosion point tester is not limited to the fireworks industry, but is also widely used for determining the explosion point of explosives and pyrotechnic agents. By scientifically determining the explosive characteristics of substances, enterprises can take targeted preventive measures, such as increasing ventilation, reducing concentration, etc., effectively reducing the risk of explosion, ensuring the safety of employees' lives and enterprise property.
With the development of technology, explosion point testers are moving towards automation and intelligence, achieving automatic recording, storage, and analysis of experimental data. This not only reduces labor intensity and improves work efficiency, but also significantly enhances the safety of experimental personnel. Today, as safety production is increasingly valued, it will become a crucial technical guarantee for high-risk industries.
