Testing regulations for desktop high-speed centrifuges
1、 Preparation before testing
environment check
Ensure that the testing environment is dry, well ventilated, the workbench is flat and sturdy, and there is no strong electromagnetic interference or corrosive gas around it.
The temperature should be controlled between 5 ℃ and 40 ℃, and the humidity should be ≤ 85% to avoid extreme temperature and humidity affecting the performance of the instrument.
Equipment inspection
Appearance inspection: Check whether the centrifuge shell, rotor, centrifuge tube, control panel and other components are intact, without cracks, deformation or corrosion.
Power supply inspection: Confirm that the power cord is not damaged, the grounding is reliable (grounding resistance ≤ 4 Ω), and the voltage fluctuation is within ± 10%. If necessary, use a voltage regulator.
Accessory inspection: Check whether the centrifuge tube, adapter, rotor cover and other accessories are complete, without damage or aging.
safety protection
Wear protective goggles, lab coats, and gloves to avoid injury caused by liquid splashing or rotor rupture.
Ensure that there are no obstacles around the centrifuge for quick operation in emergency situations.
2、 Testing items and steps
Speed detection
Tools: photoelectric tachometer or magnetic tachometer.
Steps:
Align the tachometer with the rotor marking point and start the centrifuge to the set speed (such as 10000rpm).
Record the displayed value of the tachometer and compare it with the set value of the centrifuge, with an error of ≤± 1% (if set at 10000rpm, the actual value should be between 9900-10100rpm).
Repeat the test 3 times and take the average.
Temperature detection (if freezing function is required)
Tool: High precision temperature sensor.
Steps:
Set the target temperature (such as 4 ℃), activate the cooling function, and pre cool for 10-15 minutes.
Place the temperature sensor at the center of the centrifuge chamber and record the temperature changes.
After the temperature stabilizes, check if it is within the set value ± 5 ℃ range (such as 4 ℃± 5 ℃, which is -1 ℃ to 9 ℃).
Balance detection
Tool: High precision balance (accuracy 0.01g).
Steps:
Place the centrifuge tubes symmetrically in the rotor and use a balance to weigh the weight difference between each group of symmetrical centrifuge tubes.
The weight difference should be ≤ 0.1g (such as 1.5mL centrifuge tubes) or ≤ 2g (such as centrifuge tubes above 10mL).
If using an adapter (such as a 1.5mL tube inserted into a large rotor), ensure that the adapter matches and is securely fixed.
Vibration and noise detection
Tools: vibration tester, sound level meter.
Steps:
Start the centrifuge to its maximum speed and record the vibration amplitude and noise level after running for 5 minutes.
The vibration amplitude should be ≤ 0.5mm, and the noise should be ≤ 80-90 decibels (refer to the equipment manual for details).
If there is abnormal vibration or noise, check whether the rotor is securely installed and whether the centrifuge tube is balanced.
Security function testing
Overspeed protection: Manually set the overspeed value (such as 120% of rated speed), start the centrifuge, observe whether it automatically stops and alarms.
Unbalance protection: Intentionally placing an unbalanced sample (such as a single-sided centrifuge tube), starting the centrifuge, observing whether it automatically stops and alarms.
Door cover safety lock: Try to open the door cover during operation, confirm that the door cover cannot be opened and the instrument alarms.
Functional Testing
Start/Stop: Check whether the start, stop, acceleration, and deceleration functions are normal, and the time control accuracy should be ≤ ± 10% (if set to 10 minutes, the actual time should be between 9-11 minutes).
Timer function: Set different times (such as 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes) and observe whether the centrifuge runs according to the set time.
Display parameters: Check whether the displayed parameters such as speed, time, temperature, etc. are accurate and consistent with the actual values.
3、 Post detection processing
Cleaning and maintenance
Turn off the centrifuge power and unplug the plug.
Wipe the rotor, centrifuge chamber, and housing with 70% ethanol or mild cleaning agent, avoiding the use of corrosive cleaning agents.
Check the rotor for wear or corrosion, and replace it if necessary.
Record and Report
Record detection data (such as speed, temperature, vibration, noise, etc.), including detection time, environmental conditions, detection personnel, and other information.
Generate a test report, clarify whether the test results are qualified, and attach the original data and explanation of abnormal situations.
Calibration and Maintenance
If the test results are not qualified, it is necessary to contact the manufacturer or professional technicians for calibration or repair.
Regular calibration (recommended once a year) to ensure stable performance of the centrifuge.
4、 Precautions
Strictly prohibit overspeed operation: Do not exceed the rated speed of the rotor, otherwise it may cause rotor rupture or motor damage.
Unbalanced centrifugation is prohibited: The sample must be placed symmetrically and of consistent weight to avoid safety accidents caused by severe vibration.
Do not centrifuge flammable, explosive, or corrosive samples: use sealed tubes and confirm rotor compatibility.
Do not move or open the door cover during operation to prevent damage caused by rotor rupture or liquid splashing.
Regularly inspect the rotor and sealing ring: worn or aged parts should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid leakage or damage.
