Describe the correct usage of Roboz hemostatic forceps
Date: 2025-11-17Read: 40

Roboz hemostatic forceps, as a commonly used precision instrument in laboratory and animal surgery, are widely used in vascular occlusion, tissue traction, and minimally invasive operations. Their fine occlusal surface, excellent elasticity, and ergonomic design are highly trusted by researchers. However, improper use can not only damage tissues and affect experimental results, but may also shorten the lifespan of the device. Mastering the correct usage of Roboz hemostatic forceps is a prerequisite for ensuring operational safety and reliable data.

1、 Preoperative preparation: cleaning and examination
Sterilization: Before use, it needs to be sterilized with high temperature and high pressure (121 ℃, 15-20 minutes) or ethylene oxide to ensure sterility;
Function check: Open and close several times to confirm that the jaws are aligned, the spring rebounds smoothly, and there is no looseness or jamming;
Choose the appropriate model: Roboz offers various specifications such as straight head, elbow, toothed, and toothless (such as RS-5110, RS-6120). The selection should be based on the thickness of blood vessels and tissue type - fine toothless forceps are selected for small blood vessels, and micro toothed forceps are selected for tough tissues to prevent slipping.
2、 Operating standards: Three principles of lightness, accuracy, and stability
Light clamping: Only apply necessary force to clamp the blood vessel, avoiding excessive compression that may cause tearing of the vessel wall or distal ischemia;
Positioning: The tip of the forceps should be clamped perpendicular to the direction of the blood vessel, avoiding nerves or adjacent organs;
Stable grip: Adopting the "pen holding" grip method, using the thumb and index finger to control opening and closing, and the middle finger to support the clamp handle, improving control accuracy;
Avoid empty clamping: Do not forcefully close the jaws in an unorganized state to prevent blade breakage or misalignment.
3、 Intraoperative cooperation and precautions
Temporary blocking time control: It is recommended that the single clamping time be ≤ 30 minutes. Long term blocking requires intermittent relaxation to prevent tissue necrosis;
Prohibited for cutting or prying: hemostatic forceps are not multifunctional tools and cannot replace scissors or periosteal peelers;
Maintain clear vision: Rinse the forceps tip with physiological saline in a timely manner to avoid drying up and affecting opening and closing.
4、 Postoperative treatment and maintenance
Immediate cleaning: Soak in running warm water and neutral enzyme wash solution after surgery, gently brush the joints and teeth with a soft bristled brush to remove tissue residue;
Fully dry: blow dry the moisture inside the joint to prevent rusting;
Proper storage: Open the jaws and place them in a specialized tool box to avoid long-term closure that may cause spring fatigue;
Regular lubrication: After every 10-15 uses, add a small amount of medical instrument lubricant to the shaft to maintain flexibility.
