E5071C Network AnalysisceremonyThe usage tutorial mainly includes the following aspects: panel button functions, frequency settings, testing function settings, calibration methods, etc.‌

Panel button function

The front panel of E5071C network analyzer has multiple functional areas, including working channel/trace area, corresponding area, excitation area, input area, and instrument status area. Each area has specific function buttons, such as:

  • ‌Work channel/trace area‌

Used to select and set different testing parameters.

  • ‌Corresponding area‌

Contains commonly used function buttons such as Meas, Format, Display, etc.

  • ‌Incentive Zone‌

Used to set specific testing parameters, such as starting frequency, stopping frequency, etc.

  • ‌Input area‌

: Used to input specific numerical values.

  • ‌Instrument status area‌

Used to control the initialization and status display of instruments. ‌12

Frequency setting

The frequency setting is completed through the Start and Stop buttons on the instrument panel. For example, if you want to measure the frequency range of 2.4G to 5.8G, first press Start to set it to 2.4G, and then press Stop to set it to 5.8G13

Test function settings

The E5071C network analyzer supports multiple testing functions, including reflection and transmission testing. Reflection testing includes S11And S22, mainly used for measuring standing wavescompareAnd echo lossconsumeTransmission testing includes S21And S12Used for measuring transmission characteristics. The specific settings are selected through the Meas menu.

calibration method

Calibration is an important step in ensuring the accuracy of test results. The calibration process includes the following steps:

  1. Select the calibration type (single port or dual port).

  2. Connect calibration components (such as open circuit, short circuit, load).

  3. Perform reflection and transmission calibration to ensure that each port is calibrated properly.

  4. After calibration is completed, actual measurements can be taken. ‌12

Through the above steps, users can effectively use the E5071C network analyzer for various network analyses and measurements.
