Precautions for using battery internal resistance tester
Date: 2025-07-29Read: 2
The internal resistance of a battery refers to the voltage drop generated when current passes through the battery during operation. The internal resistance of a battery directly affects its performance and lifespan.Battery internal resistance testerBy measuring the voltage drop and current magnitude during battery discharge, calculate the internal resistance value of the battery. This value can help us evaluate the health of batteries, detect battery aging and faults in a timely manner, and is a specialized device used to measure the internal impedance of batteries.
Battery internal resistance testerPrecautions for use:
1. Correctly connect the electrodes: Ensure good contact between the tester probe and the positive and negative electrodes of the battery (avoid oxide layer affecting contact, clean the electrode surface first), to prevent measurement errors caused by poor contact.
2. Avoid excessive discharge: The current applied by the instrument during measurement is extremely small (usually in the mA range), but long-term or frequent measurements may still consume battery power. It is recommended to charge low battery cells before testing.
3. Choose the appropriate range: The internal resistance range of different batteries varies greatly (such as button batteries may have an internal resistance of several ohms, and power batteries may have a milliohm level), and the corresponding range should be selected according to the battery type to improve measurement accuracy.
4. Environmental factors: Temperature has a significant impact on the internal resistance of batteries (usually with an increase in temperature, the internal resistance decreases). It is recommended to measure at room temperature (20-25 ℃) or record the ambient temperature for data calibration.
5. Regular calibration of instruments: To ensure measurement accuracy, standard resistors should be used regularly to calibrate the instruments, especially in high-precision detection scenarios.
