Vertical electrophoresis tank maintenance and troubleshooting: 5 key points to extend equipment life
Date: 2025-05-30Read: 0
Vertical electrophoresis tankIt is a commonly used equipment in biochemical experiments, and its maintenance and troubleshooting are crucial for ensuring the accuracy of experimental results and extending equipment life. Here are 5 key points to extend the lifespan of vertical electrophoresis tanks:
Daily cleaning and maintenance
Glass plate cleaning: Rinse the adhesive glass plate and comb clean with distilled water, and dry the moisture with a hair dryer. Avoid residues affecting subsequent experiments.
Sealing strip inspection: Regularly inspect the sealing strip of the vertical electrophoresis tank for aging or damage, and replace it promptly if damaged. At the same time, ensure that the sealing strip is installed evenly to avoid unevenness.
Tank cleaning: After the experiment is completed, promptly clean the residue and stains inside the tank to prevent corrosion or impact on the next experiment.
Electrophoretic system inspection
Electrode inspection: Regularly check whether the electrode is clean and free of corrosion, and ensure that the connection between the electrode and the electrophoresis cell is tight. If damage or corrosion is found on the electrode, it should be replaced in a timely manner.
Conductive system inspection: Arrange a specialist to regularly inspect the conductive system to prevent equipment damage caused by conductive system failures.
Tank fluid management and replacement
Tank liquid temperature control: Install a constant temperature control system to keep the tank liquid temperature within the optimal range (such as 28-32 ℃). Seasonal climate changes and the duration of production operations can cause changes in the temperature of the electrophoresis tank solution, so close attention and adjustment are necessary.
Monitoring of bath composition: Before production every day, a specialist should be arranged to sample and analyze the electrophoresis bath, monitor parameters such as solid content, pH value, conductivity, etc., to ensure that the bath composition meets experimental requirements.
Tank fluid replacement: Regularly replace the tank fluid according to experimental requirements and tank fluid usage to prevent aging or contamination of the tank fluid from affecting experimental results.
Troubleshooting and Repair
Leakage problem: If leakage is found in the electrophoresis tank, the experiment should be stopped immediately and the cause of the leakage should be checked. It may be caused by aging, damage, or uneven installation of the sealing strip, or by leakage at the electrode holes. Repair the specific reasons, such as replacing the sealing strip, using sealing glue to seal the sealing fluid, etc.
No current issue: If there is no current in the electrophoresis tank, first use a multimeter to check whether the electrophoresis instrument has an output voltage, then check whether the electrophoresis output line is conductive, and whether the electrode socket of the electrophoresis tank is reliably conductive with the platinum wire. If looseness or breakage is found, it should be promptly tightened or welded for repair.
Operating standards and training
Develop operating procedures: forVertical electrophoresis tankDevelop detailed operating procedures, including preparation before the experiment, operation during the experiment, and cleaning after the experiment, to ensure that experimental personnel operate according to the specifications.
Training laboratory personnel: Regularly provide training on the operation and maintenance of vertical electrophoresis tanks to enhance their experimental skills and equipment maintenance awareness.
