On September 20th, the 2025 Academic Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of China was held in Kunming, Yunnan. The theme of this annual conference is "Technological innovation empowers new breakthroughs in mineral exploration, supports national energy and resource security and ecological civilization construction, and promotes high-quality development of the geological industry". Through exchanges and discussions, we will jointly summarize the achievements of China's geological science and technology during the 14th Five Year Plan period, plan the development direction of geological science and technology during the 15th Five Year Plan period, and form a collective wisdom crystallization to solve development problems and support geological science and technology progress.

This year's conference will have one main venue and 49 sub venues. During the conference, academicians and experts were invited to give presentations, share new research achievements in the field of global geology, explore cutting-edge issues in the industry, and provide suggestions for the future development direction of the discipline. At the same time, attending experts and scholars also focused on new developments in mineral exploration, theoretical innovation in mineral exploration, innovation and application of green exploration technology, and other key directions and cutting-edge fields for exchange and discussion.

This annual conference is hosted by the Geological Society of China, organized by the Geological Society of Yunnan Province, and co organized by the Yunnan Geological Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau, Yunnan Nonferrous Geology Bureau, Yunnan Geological Survey Bureau, Yunnan Coalfield Geology Bureau, Kunming University of Science and Technology, and the Kunming Natural Resources Comprehensive Survey Center of the China Geological Survey. The conference included nearly 1200 academic papers, attended by nearly 2500 representatives from the China Geological Survey, the governing units and branches of the Chinese Geological Society, provincial geological societies, relevant universities, research institutes, provincial natural resources authorities, geological exploration units, industry enterprises, and other units across the country.
