Interpretation of the core technical indicators of the insulation oil gas evolution tester
Date: 2025-12-19Read: 0

In the power industry, insulating oil is an important insulation and cooling medium for key equipment such as transformers, cables, capacitors, etc. Its electrical stability is directly related to the safety and lifespan of the equipment. The gas evolution of insulating oil, as a core indicator, is used to evaluate the tendency of insulating oil to release or absorb gas under high-intensity electric fields. This performance is accurately measured using a dedicated insulation oil gas evolution tester. To deeply understand and evaluate the performance of such instruments, it is necessary to pay attention to a series of core technical indicators in their design and operation process.

1、 Accurate temperature control system

Temperature is a key parameter that affects the physical and chemical properties of insulating oil. The determination of gas evolution requires a constant temperature environment to eliminate the interference of temperature fluctuations on the state and reaction rate of the oil sample. The temperature control range of the instrument usually covers 0 ℃ to 100 ℃ to meet different experimental standards or research needs. More importantly, its temperature control accuracy needs to be stable within ± 0.5 ℃. High precision temperature control typically relies on PID (proportional integral derivative) algorithms, combined with efficient heating and cooling mechanisms, to ensure a uniform and constant temperature field inside the oil bath. This is the cornerstone for ensuring comparability and reproducibility of test results between different batches and laboratories.

2、 Stable and reliable high-voltage generating unit

The essence of gas evolution testing is to simulate the behavior of oil products under strong electric fields. The instrument needs to generate a test voltage of up to 10kV and maintain stability throughout the entire test cycle. The core of this indicator lies in "voltage accuracy", which usually requires a deviation of no more than ± 2% of the set value. In order to achieve this, the high-voltage system of the instrument often uses sophisticated dry-type high-voltage transformers and precise voltage regulation and feedback circuits. The stability of voltage directly determines whether the strength of the electric field applied to the oil gas interface is constant, and any fluctuations may cause changes in the discharge characteristics, thereby significantly affecting the measurement results of gas evolution.

3、 Accurate gas supply and measurement

During the experiment, a specific gas (such as hydrogen) needs to be passed through the surface of the oil sample at a constant flow rate to simulate the conditions that may exist during actual operation. The gas flow rate is usually set at 3 liters per hour. The accuracy of flow control is crucial: excessive flow may excessively disturb the oil surface, affecting the balance between gas dissolution and release; If the flow rate is too small, it is impossible to maintain the specified test atmosphere. Precise flow controllers and mass flow meters are key to ensuring this indicator, ensuring accurate and error free gas volume passing through the oil surface per unit time, and providing standardized initial conditions for testing.

4、 High precision time control module

The gas evolution test is a dynamic process closely related to time, and the standard method specifies a clear test duration (such as the common 60 minutes or 120 minutes). The timing range of the instrument should cover 1 to 120 minutes, and the timing accuracy should reach the level of ± 1 second. The automatic timing and timed alarm function not only liberates operators, but more importantly, ensures that each test step strictly follows the standard duration, avoids human timing errors, and ensures consistent timeliness of test data. The results of different tests can be compared on the same scale.

5、 Standard compliance and safety design

A professional measuring instrument must strictly follow standards such as GB/T 11142, NB/SH/T 0810, and ASTM D2300 in its design blueprint. This means that the hardware and software design of the instrument's test cell structure, electrode shape, and test step logic are consistent with the standard requirements, which is the fundamental prerequisite for the validity and legal traceability of measurement results.

In terms of safety, the instrument integrates multiple protective measures. A fully enclosed or transparent safety cover structure can effectively prevent high-pressure leakage and oil sample splashing. A complete electrical protection circuit can automatically cut off high voltage in case of abnormalities, ensuring the safety of operators. Although these designs do not directly generate data, they are the foundation for the reliable and long-term operation of the instrument.

6、 Human computer interaction and data traceability

Modern instruments are usually equipped with large LCD displays and intuitive touch screen controls, providing clear Chinese operation instructions. A good human-computer interaction interface reduces the possibility of operational errors and improves experimental efficiency. In addition, whether the instrument can provide detailed and standardized test records, and even support the calibration and identification of key parameters of the instrument itself, is related to the "traceability" of measurement results.

Conclusion

In summary, the insulation oil gas evolution tester is not a single functional device, but a complex system that integrates precision temperature control, high voltage stabilization, fluid measurement, precise timing, safety protection, and standard compliance verification. The core of evaluating its performance lies in examining whether the above technical indicators meet the accuracy and stability requirements of the method standards. These indicators are interrelated and work together to ensure that the final measured "gas evolution rate" or "gas evolution tendency" data is true, accurate, and reliable.
