Layout optimization and electromagnetic interference suppression of RFID antennas in smart cabinets
Date: 2025-08-14Read: 2
The optimization of RFID antenna layout and electromagnetic interference suppression in smart cabinets require collaborative design from four dimensions: spatial coverage, polarization matching, power control, and material application, in order to achieve stable identification in high-density scenarios.
1、 Space Coverage Optimization: Multi antenna Collaboration and Layered Layout
The internal structure of smart cabinets is complex, and items such as books and metal shelves can easily lead to signal blind spots. Adopting a layered layout can accurately cover areas of different heights:
High rise shelves (such as the top 1-2 floors): Install high gain antennas (8-12 dBi) tilted downward at a 45 ° angle, with signal coverage extending to the middle level to avoid missed readings of high-level labels.
Middle shelves (3-6 layers): Use medium gain antennas (6-8dBi) facing horizontally towards the opposite shelf, covering adjacent 2-3 layers to reduce stacking and obstruction of goods.
Bottom shelf (0-3 meters): Deploy low gain antennas (2-4dBi) to shorten the recognition distance and enhance signal stability, avoiding interference from metal bases.
At the same time, blind spots can be eliminated through antenna overlap layout (coverage overlap of 10% -20%), but the overlap degree needs to be controlled to prevent signal conflicts. For example, after adopting this solution in a smart bookshelf project, the tag recognition rate increased from 82% to 96%.
2、 Polarization matching and anti-interference design
The randomness of tag direction can easily lead to mismatch, and a circularly polarized antenna is required to achieve 360 ° reading. Its spiral signal propagation characteristics can reduce multipath interference (misreading caused by signal reflection), and in dense bookshelf scenes, the misreading rate can be reduced by more than 40%.
For metal shelf environments, anti metal antennas (such as adhesive backed flexible PCB antennas) should be used to shield metal eddy current interference through special structures (such as resonant rings). After adopting anti metal antennas in a certain pharmaceutical warehouse project, the success rate of tag recognition in the metal shelf area increased from 65% to 92%.
3、 Dynamic power control and channel isolation
Power grading adjustment: dynamically adjust antenna power based on shelf height. For example, the high-level antenna power is set to 27dBm (to enhance penetration), and the low-level power is reduced to 20dBm (to avoid signal overflow).
Channel switching technology: Switching between different frequency bands (such as 860-865MHz and 902-928MHz) through a reader/writer to reduce co channel interference. A logistics warehouse test showed that channel isolation can reduce the signal crosstalk rate between levels by 70%.
4、 Absorbing materials and electromagnetic shielding
Embedding absorbing materials (such as ferrite sheets) in the back panel or internal structure of the shelf can absorb reflected signals and reduce multipath interference. For example, in the smart filing cabinet project, the absorbing material reduces the signal reflection intensity by 15dB and significantly improves the stability of label reading.
In addition, metal shielding covers are used for critical circuits (such as reader/writer modules) to block external electromagnetic interference (such as Wi Fi and Bluetooth signals) and ensure a system signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) higher than 20dB.
