Factors affecting the test results of air release measuring instruments
Date: 2025-06-16Read: 0
The air release analyzer is a specialized instrument used to measure and evaluate the ability of fluids such as turbines, hydraulic oil, and lubricating oil to separate and entrain air.
1、 Main functions and application scenarios of air release measuring instrument:
Measure the release time of the air entrained in the fluid (such as lubricating oil and hydraulic oil), and evaluate its foam resistance and air release performance.
Simulate the ability of fluid bubbles to separate due to agitation or high pressure in actual operating conditions (such as turbines, hydraulic systems).
Provide key parameters for oil quality control, equipment maintenance, and lubrication system design.
Application scenarios
Turbine: Evaluate the air release capacity of lubricating oil under high-speed rotation to prevent cavitation or lubrication failure.
Hydraulic system: detect the foam tendency and air release speed of hydraulic oil to avoid air lock or response delay.
Industrial lubrication: Optimize lubricant formula to improve equipment operating efficiency and lifespan.
Aerospace: Used for testing the air release performance of aviation fuel and hydraulic oil to ensure flight safety.
2、 Structure and operation steps of air release measuring instrument
1. Instrument composition
Sample pool: a transparent glass or pressure resistant container used to hold oil samples and observe the process of bubble release.
Gas system: Accurately control gas flow and pressure, and introduce air or nitrogen into the oil sample.
Mixing device: Simulate fluid flow or shear force to promote uniform dispersion of bubbles.
Temperature control system: Maintain a constant oil sample temperature during the testing process.
Timing and recording module: automatically records the release time of bubbles, and some instruments support data storage and analysis.
2. Operation steps
Sample preparation: Take an appropriate amount of oil sample according to standard requirements and preheat it to the testing temperature.
Aeration stirring: inject air into the oil sample and stir it to form stable foam or bubbles.
Stop ventilation: Close the air circuit, start the timer, and record the time when the bubbles disappear.
Data record: output parameters such as air release time and foam height, and generate test report.
3、 Factors and precautions affecting air release measuring instruments
1. Factors that affect test results
Oil properties: The type of base oil (mineral oil, synthetic oil) and additives (anti foaming agents, antioxidants) directly affect the air release performance.
Temperature: The increase of temperature will reduce the viscosity of oil products and accelerate the release of air, but too high temperature may lead to the stability of foam.
Pollution: Particle impurities or moisture in the oil sample can prolong the air release time.
Mixing intensity: Excessive mixing may introduce more micron sized bubbles, increasing the difficulty of testing.
2. Precautions for operation
Ensure the sample pool is clean to avoid any residue affecting the test results.
Strictly control the gas flow rate and stirring speed to ensure test repeatability.
High viscosity oil products (such as hydraulic oil at low temperatures) need to be preheated to the specified temperature.
Regularly calibrate the instrument, check the air circuit sealing and timing accuracy.
