Precautions for using a golden crucible
Date: 2025-09-22Read: 20

The gold crucible, as an important tool in the field of metal melting, plays a crucial role in the melting of precious metals such as gold and silver. Whether it is jewelry manufacturers, precious metal refineries, or other metal processing industries, excellent high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance are required. Therefore, proper use is of great significance for improving melting efficiency, prolonging crucible life, and enhancing work efficiency.

Precautions for using a golden crucible:
1. Temperature control is crucial
Must be able to withstand temperatures higher than the melting point of gold. The temperature resistance of crucibles made of different materials varies. When using crucibles, it is necessary to ensure that their temperature resistance range matches the melting temperature to avoid deformation, cracking, or melting caused by overheating of the crucible.
2. Avoid drastic temperature changes
When in use, it is often exposed to high temperature environments, and suddenly transitioning from a high temperature environment to a low temperature environment can cause thermal expansion and contraction stress on the crucible, which can easily lead to cracks or damage. Therefore, during use, the crucible should avoid sudden contact with cold water or exposure to low-temperature air. If the crucible needs to be cooled down, the temperature should be gradually reduced to avoid excessive temperature differences.
3. Prevent the crucible from reacting with other metals or chemicals
During the melting process, avoid reacting with other metals or chemicals, especially graphite crucibles. When using graphite crucibles, avoid contact with acidic or alkaline liquids, as these substances may react chemically with graphite, causing damage to the crucible or the introduction of impurities during the melting process.
4. Handle and store with care
Avoid severe impact or compression during transportation, especially for ceramic crucibles and other brittle materials. During the transportation process, wear protective gloves and handle with care. When the crucible is not in use, it should be placed in a dry and clean place to avoid moisture and contamination. When storing, avoid placing heavy objects on the crucible to prevent deformation or breakage.
5. Regularly check the condition of the crucible
Before each use, check the appearance and condition to ensure there are no signs of cracks or damage. Especially for graphite crucibles, after long-term use, small cracks or wear may appear on their surface, affecting their performance. Therefore, regularly check the integrity of the crucible and replace it promptly if any problems are found.
6. Avoid overloading during use
Avoid excessive melting during use. Overloading not only increases the high-temperature and pressure bearing capacity of the crucible, but may also affect the melting effect, resulting in metal splashing, waste, or damage to the crucible. Reasonably calculate the amount of metal melted each time to avoid overloading the crucible.
7. Cleaning and maintenance
After each use, it should be cleaned promptly. The cleaning methods for crucibles made of different materials may vary slightly. Graphite crucibles can be cleaned of surface metal residues using a soft bristled brush; Ceramic crucibles can be cleaned with warm water, but acidic or alkaline cleaning agents should be avoided. Clean gently to avoid damaging the surface of the crucible.
In addition, when the crucible is not used for a long time, it should be kept dry and avoid contact with chemicals. Graphite crucibles should be stored in well ventilated areas to avoid humid environments.
Proper use and maintenance can not only improve melting efficiency, but also extend the service life of crucibles, ensuring the safety and stability of the production process. By mastering the precautions for using a gold crucible and operating it flexibly according to its material characteristics, its performance can be improved, operational risks can be reduced, and the smooth progress of gold smelting work can be ensured.
