Introduction: Clothes with excessive pH value can easily cause skin redness, itching, and even allergies, dermatitis, and other problems. Long term wearing can cause significant damage to the skin. On August 3rd, the Wan Chai office of Zhuhai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau destroyed a batch of imported clothing due to excessive pH value.
  
This batch of clothing was imported by a certain company from Bangladesh and India, with a total of 158 styles, 16575 pieces, and a value of 52000 US dollars. The Wan Chai Office of Zhuhai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau conducted a sampling test on the batch of clothing and found that the pH value of three clothing items was 9.3, which did not meet the requirements of GB18401-2010 for Class B clothing pH value range of 4.0-8.5. In addition, the fiber content of the other three clothing items was unqualified. In order to maintain the quality and safety of imported clothing, the staff of the Wan Chai office have destructively destroyed 374 pieces of clothing with pH values exceeding the standard in this batch of imported clothing in accordance with the law. The company is required to rectify 407 pieces of clothing with unqualified fiber content, and can only enter the market after the rectification is qualified.
  
It is understood that pH value is one of the harmful substances remaining in textiles that affect human safety and health. The pH value of human skin should generally be between 5.5-7.0, which is weakly acidic and can protect the body from bacterial infections. If the pH value of textiles exceeds the standard, it can damage the weakly acidic environment on the surface of human skin, cause itching, and make the skin vulnerable to bacterial invasion, even leading to symptoms such as dermatitis.
