Master the operation skills of electric globe valves
Date: 2025-07-23Read: 12

Electric globe valve is a type of valve that uses an electric actuator to control valve opening and closing or flow regulation. It drives the electric actuator by receiving control signals to open, close or adjust the valve to a predetermined position. Not only can it effectively control the flow rate and pressure of fluids, but it can also be precisely adjusted according to demand, widely used in pipeline systems in industries such as petroleum, chemical, power, and food.

The operation process of an electric globe valve is relatively simple, but it must be carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safe and accurate execution of tasks by the equipment. The following are common operating steps:
1. Installation and Connection
Installation is the foundation for ensuring its smooth operation. Special attention should be paid to the following points during installation:
Valve selection and matching: Select the appropriate shut-off valve based on the specifications of the pipeline, medium type, and working pressure, and ensure the power matching of the electric actuator.
Correct installation direction: It should be installed according to the flow direction of the pipeline, and there are usually arrows on the valve indicating the direction of fluid flow. Ensure that the valve and actuator are vertically aligned during installation.
Electrical connection: The power line, electrical control signal line, and grounding wire of the electric actuator must be correctly connected as required to ensure the stable operation of the electrical system.
Valve switch debugging: After installation, manually adjust the valve to ensure that it can work normally in the open and closed states, and then connect the electric actuator for debugging.
2. Regulation and Control
Once the installation is completed, the key to the adjustment process is to precisely control the opening of the valve to ensure that the flow is controlled within the expected range. The adjustment steps are as follows:
Opening adjustment: Set the target opening in the control system, and the electric actuator adjusts the valve opening based on the set current or voltage signal to achieve precise control of fluid flow.
Response time adjustment: According to system requirements, the response speed of the valve can be adjusted. For applications that require precise flow regulation, a slower response speed should be chosen; For situations where traffic changes rapidly, the fast response mode can be chosen.
Set feedback control: The actuator generally has a feedback device that can monitor the actual opening of the valve in real time and send the feedback signal back to the control system to ensure the accuracy of flow control.
3. Common control methods during operation
There are various control methods for electric globe valves, mainly including:
Manual and automatic switching control: Some shut-off valves have manual operation function and can switch to manual operation mode when the electric actuator fails. By manually operating the valve, the temporary operation of the system can be ensured.
Remote control and local control: Through the remote control system, operators can control multiple valves remotely, facilitating centralized management of multiple valves. The local control system allows operators to directly operate the valves.
PID control system: usually used in conjunction with PID control system, it achieves precise control and stable regulation of flow by setting appropriate proportional, integral and derivative parameters.
During the operation, strictly follow the relevant operating specifications to ensure that the equipment can operate stably for a long time. Here are some operational precautions:
Avoid overload operation: During operation, avoid working for a long time in an overloaded state. Overloading operation may cause overheating of the electric actuator and damage to the electric motor.
Regularly inspect the electrical system: Regularly check the power connection, electrical control signals, and feedback system of the electric actuator.
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean, especially the sealing parts, to avoid dirt accumulation and affect the sealing performance of the valve. At the same time, it is necessary to check whether the connection between the valve and the actuator is stable and ensure that there is no looseness.
Prevent valve jamming: To avoid valve jamming caused by long-term non operation, especially in low-temperature environments, manual inspection and adjustment of the valve should be carried out regularly.
As an important component of modern automation control systems, electric globe valves have the advantages of high flow regulation accuracy and easy operation. Mastering the correct operating methods can not only improve the efficiency and safety of the system, but also extend the service life of the equipment.
