How to choose a high-purity nitrogen generator? Key Performance Indicators and Selection Guidelines
Date: 2025-11-19Read: 1
Choosing a high-purity nitrogen generator requires comprehensive consideration of three aspects: core performance indicators, adaptability to application scenarios, and long-term usage costs. The following are key indicators and selection guidelines:
1、 Core performance indicators
Nitrogen purity
The core indicators of high-purity nitrogen generators need to be selected according to the application scenario:
Conventional experiments (such as gas chromatography carrier gas): Purity ≥ 99.99% is sufficient to meet the requirements;
High precision experiments (such as semiconductor manufacturing and mass spectrometry analysis): Equipment with a purity of ≥ 99.999% should be selected to avoid impurities interfering with the experimental results.
Output flow and pressure
Flow rate: Based on the maximum gas consumption of the equipment, it is recommended to choose a model slightly higher than the actual demand. For example, if the gas consumption of a single device is 200ml/min, a device with a flow range of 0-300ml/min can be selected;
Pressure: The output pressure needs to be stable between 0.4-0.6MPa to meet the carrier gas requirements of instruments such as gas chromatography and liquid chromatography.
Dew point and oxygen content
Dew point: reflects the moisture content in nitrogen gas. The dew point of high-purity nitrogen should be ≤ -70 ℃ to avoid moisture condensation affecting the production process;
Oxygen content: It should be controlled below 1ppm to prevent metal oxidation or experimental data deviation.
Stability and continuous operation capability
Select equipment that can run continuously for more than 1000 hours with parameter fluctuation range of ≤± 1% to ensure the continuous stability of the experiment or production process.
2、 Selection Guide
Select according to the application scenario
Laboratory analysis: Priority should be given to small-sized, low-noise (≤ 60 decibels), and easy-to-use equipment, such as models with flow rates ranging from 0-300ml/min and purity of 99.999%;
Industrial production: It is necessary to choose equipment with high flow rate, high pressure, and durability, such as models with flow rate ≥ 500ml/min and output pressure of 0.6MPa, and consider external gas storage tanks to save energy and reduce consumption.
Evaluate energy consumption and costs
Choose equipment with moderate power and low energy consumption, such as models with power ≤ 750W, to reduce long-term operating costs;
Priority should be given to equipment that adopts the principle of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) at room temperature, which has the characteristics of high efficiency, energy saving, and environmental protection.
Pay attention to safety and maintenance
Select equipment with overpressure protection, overload protection, and automatic fault diagnosis functions to ensure safe use;
Priority should be given to manufacturers that provide comprehensive after-sales service, in order to obtain timely repair and support in case of equipment failure.
