Composite material bonding flaw detector is a non-destructive testing equipment used to detect the bonding quality of composite materials
Date: 2025-05-16Read: 4
The composite material bonding flaw detector is mainly used to detect the bonding quality of composite materials, ensuring that there are no defects or damages at the bonding site.
Composite material adhesive flaw detectors usually use eddy current testing technology, which electronically drives multiple adjacent eddy current induction coils, interprets signals from these coils, and generates accurate and detailed cross-sectional images of the tested workpiece. This technology can detect subtle defects and damages without damaging the material. For example, in the inspection of sealed gas and oil pipelines, flaw detectors can be widely used for welding and corrosion detection of small diameter pipe fittings without interference from coatings or paint layers.
Based on non-destructive testing technology, the bonding parts of composite materials are inspected through specific methods such as ultrasound, eddy current, etc. Taking ultrasonic waves as an example, a flaw detector emits ultrasonic waves into composite materials, and the ultrasonic waves propagate inside the material. When encountering bonding defects (such as debonding, delamination, etc.), reflection, refraction, and other phenomena occur. By receiving and analyzing the signal characteristics of the reflected waves (such as amplitude, phase, propagation time, etc.), it is determined whether there are defects in the bonding area and the location, size, and other information of the defects.
Application field
Aerospace: Reliable bonding is crucial for the integrity of aircraft composite structures throughout their entire service life. Aircraft structures are susceptible to impacts and lightning strikes, requiring reliable and effective non-destructive testing methods to quickly assess potential damage. The composite material bonding flaw detector can be used to detect defects such as delamination and peeling in aircraft composite material structures, ensuring flight safety.
Automobiles and components: The application of composite materials is becoming increasingly widespread in automobile manufacturing. Flaw detectors can be used to detect the bonding quality of automotive composite parts, ensuring the strength and reliability of the parts, and improving the overall performance and safety of the vehicle.
Petrochemical industry: In the field of petrochemicals, many equipment and pipelines are made of composite materials. Flaw detectors can be used to detect the bonding areas of these devices and pipelines, preventing safety accidents such as leaks caused by bonding defects.
Roads/tracks/ships: can be used to detect the bonding quality of related composite material structures, ensuring the safe operation of infrastructure. For example, detecting composite components of bridges and composite hulls of ships.
