The butter gun is a commonly used tool for manual/pneumatic lubrication, with the core purpose of delivering lubricating grease to mechanical bearings, hinges, and other parts. The key to use is to "select the right grease, exhaust the air, and align the nozzle". The specific operating instructions are as follows:
1、 Preparation before use
Matching lubricating grease: Select lubricating grease that meets the mechanical requirements (such as lithium based grease, high-temperature grease), ensuring that the grease has not deteriorated and is free of impurities.
Check tool status: Check whether the butter gun barrel, hose, and joint are damaged or leaking grease, whether the pressure rod/pneumatic switch is flexible, and whether the oil nozzle (filling nozzle) is clean and unobstructed.
Fill lubricating grease:
Open the back cover of the gun barrel and evenly fill the barrel with lubricating grease to avoid mixing air (can be pressed and compacted layer by layer).
After tightening the back cover, repeatedly pull the pressure rod until there is lubricating grease overflowing from the gun barrel, and confirm that the air inside the gun is completely discharged (incomplete air discharge may result in failure to dispense grease).
2、 Operation steps
Docking oil nozzle: Align the oil outlet joint of the grease gun with the grease nozzle (oil nozzle) on the machine, ensuring complete fit (the rotatable joint is locked to prevent grease leakage).
Add lubricating grease:
Manual version: Slowly press the pressure rod and feel the change in resistance. When the resistance increases significantly or there is a small amount of grease overflowing from the mechanical gap, it indicates that the filling is in place.
Pneumatic version: Connect the air source (adjust the pressure to a suitable range, usually 0.4-0.6MPa), press the pneumatic switch, and add oil at a constant speed to avoid damaging the oil seal due to excessive pressure.
Stop adding and separating: Release the pressure rod/turn off the air source, gently rotate the joint to detach from the grease fitting, and wipe off any remaining lubricating grease with a cloth.
3、 Precautions
It is prohibited to mix different types and grades of lubricating grease to avoid chemical reactions affecting the lubrication effect.
Avoid excessive filling, otherwise it will increase mechanical resistance and even damage the seals.
When not in use for a long time, it is necessary to drain the remaining lubricating grease from the gun, clean the tools, and store them properly to prevent component corrosion.
Wear gloves during operation to avoid lubricating grease from contaminating the skin. If accidentally touched, clean with a cleaning agent in a timely manner.
