Tips for extending lifespan: Correct maintenance methods for stability analyzers
Date: 2025-12-19Read: 0
Stability analyzerIt is a high-precision analytical instrument used to evaluate the physical stability of liquid or semi-solid dispersion systems (such as lotion, suspension, foam, colloid, microcapsule, etc.), and is widely used in food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, coatings, petroleum, nano materials and other industries. Its core function is to use non-invasive optical scanning technology to monitor in real-time the processes of phase separation, settling, floating, coagulation, aggregation, or clarification of samples under gravity, centrifugation, or temperature stress, in order to quantitatively predict product shelf life and formula quality.
It often uses Multiple Light Scattering (MLS) technology, combined with near-infrared light sources and high-sensitivity detectors, to scan point by point transmitted light (T) and backscattered light (BS) along the height direction of the sample without damaging the sample. As particles migrate or concentration changes, the intensity of the backscattered signal also changes. Based on this, the system generates a time position stability map and calculates key parameters such as migration rate, interface displacement, and instability index (such as TSI, Turbscan Stability Index) to achieve objective quantification of stability.
  Stability analyzerMaintenance and upkeep methods:
1、 Daily cleaning and dust prevention
External cleaning:
Use a soft dry cloth or specialized cleaning cloth to wipe the instrument housing, avoiding the use of cleaning agents containing chemical solvents or rough materials to prevent scratching the surface or corrosion of materials.
Regularly clean the dust and debris around the instrument to maintain a clean working environment.
Internal cleaning:
For optical components such as lenses, filters, etc., specialized optical cleaning tools and solutions should be used for cleaning, avoiding direct touch with hands or wiping with regular paper towels to prevent fingerprints or scratches.
Regularly inspect and clean the sample pool or colorimetric dish to ensure there are no residual samples or contaminants to avoid affecting the measurement results.
Dust prevention measures:
When the instrument is not in use, it should be covered with a dust cover to prevent dust from entering the interior of the instrument.
Avoid using instruments in dusty environments or take additional dust prevention measures, such as using air purifiers.
2、 Regular calibration and verification
Calibration cycle:
Develop a regular calibration plan based on the frequency of use of the instrument and the manufacturer's recommendations. Typically, instruments used at high frequencies may require more frequent calibration.
Calibration method:
Calibrate the instrument using standard samples or calibration solutions to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.
Follow the calibration steps and precautions provided by the manufacturer to avoid calibration failure or instrument damage caused by improper operation.
Verification testing:
After calibration, use samples of known concentration for validation testing to confirm the measurement accuracy and stability of the instrument.
Record the results of calibration and validation tests to track changes in instrument performance.
3、 Component inspection and replacement
Light source inspection:
Regularly check the status of the light source, such as brightness, stability, etc. If the light source is aging or lacks brightness, it needs to be replaced in a timely manner.
Follow the manufacturer's recommendations and replace with the specified type and specification of light source.
Sensor inspection:
Check if the sensor connection is good and ensure the stability of signal transmission.
Regularly clean the surface of the sensor to avoid contamination that may affect the measurement results.
If the sensor is damaged or its performance decreases, it needs to be replaced in a timely manner.
Inspection of other components:
Regularly inspect other components of the instrument, such as heating elements, temperature sensors, pumps, etc., to ensure their proper functioning.
According to the manufacturer's recommendations, regularly replace vulnerable parts and consumables such as seals, filters, etc.
4、 Environmental control
Temperature and humidity:
Place the instrument in an environment with stable temperature and suitable humidity to avoid damage to the instrument caused by extreme temperature or humidity.
Use thermometers and hygrometers to monitor environmental conditions and ensure they are within the required range of the instrument.
Vibration and interference:
Avoid placing the instrument in environments with high vibrations, such as near heavy equipment or traffic arteries.
Take necessary anti vibration measures, such as using anti vibration pads or installing shock absorbers.
To avoid the impact of electromagnetic interference on the instrument, such as keeping the instrument away from strong electromagnetic sources or using shielded cables.
5、 Long term storage management
Storage environment:
If the instrument needs to be stored for a long time, it should be placed in a dry, ventilated, and non corrosive gas environment.
Avoid exposing the instrument to direct sunlight or high temperature environments to prevent material aging or deformation.
Regular start-up and inspection:
Regularly start the instrument and perform simple functional checks to ensure it is in good condition.
If any problems or malfunctions are found with the instrument, timely repair or replacement of components should be carried out.
