Daily maintenance of single-layer glass reaction vessels: cleaning, leak detection, and life extension techniques
Date: 2025-11-11Read: 1
Single layer glass reaction kettle is a commonly used equipment for mixing, reaction and other operations in the laboratory. Proper daily maintenance is key to ensuring its normal operation, obtaining reliable data, and extending its lifespan.
1、 Cleaning: Gentle, avoiding damage
Clean immediately after each use to prevent material residue crystallization or corrosion. Follow the following principles:
Timely cleaning: When the reaction is complete and there is still residual temperature in the kettle, rinse the inner wall with a suitable solvent (such as water, ethanol, acetone, etc.) to dissolve the residue.
Gentle cleaning: Use a soft bristled brush or sponge for cleaning. It is absolutely forbidden to use metal brushes or sharp tools to scrape, in order to avoid scratches on the surface of the glass, which may become a potential risk of breakage.
Targeted decontamination: For stubborn stains, they can be soaked in corresponding acid or alkali solutions, but attention should be paid to the corrosiveness and soaking time of the solution. After completion, rinse with pure water.
2、 Leak detection: Regular inspection to prevent potential problems
Sealing is an important guarantee for reaction safety and should be regularly checked for leaks.
Sealing and leak detection of mixing system: During no-load operation, drop a small amount of water into the sealing area of the mixing shaft (such as the clamp spring seal). If stable bubbles are observed in the water, it indicates that there is a leak at the seal and the seal needs to be tightened or replaced.
Interface and valve leak detection: Check whether the plugs, valves, and PTFE plugs of each standard port (such as discharge valve and feed port) are tightened. The airtightness can be checked by conducting a pressure test or applying soapy water to observe if there is any bubbling.
3、 Extended lifespan: Standardized operation, careful care
Standardized operation: strictly adhere to temperature limits and avoid rapid cooling and heating. It is recommended to control the temperature rise and fall rate at ≤ 5 ℃/minute. Avoid hard objects hitting the glass when adding materials.
Proper storage: After cleaning, place in a dry and ventilated place to avoid collision. Paper sheets should be placed between the interfaces of each grinding port to prevent adhesion after prolonged use.
Regular maintenance: Apply designated vacuum grease or lubricating grease to the mixing seal regularly to reduce wear and tear. Check and tighten the clips of each connecting part to ensure overall stability.
In short, through meticulous daily cleaning, rigorous periodic leak detection, and standardized operating habits, the reliability and service life of single-layer glass reaction vessels can be greatly improved, providing long-lasting safety guarantees for laboratory work.
