How to solve the problem of texture analyzer malfunction
Date: 2025-10-15Read: 1
As the core equipment for texture characteristic detection in fields such as food and medicine, the stability of texture analyzer directly affects the reliability of experimental data. The following are typical fault phenomena, causes, and targeted solutions summarized in practice:
1、 The test results fluctuate greatly/have poor repeatability
Performance: The same sample has significant differences in multiple test curves and high numerical dispersion.
Reason:
1. Uneven sample preparation (such as differences in particle distribution and moisture content);
2. The probe is not vertically aligned with the center, resulting in uneven force distribution;
3. Mechanical deformation caused by the instrument not being preheated or drastic changes in ambient temperature.
solve:
Optimize the sample preparation process to ensure consistent sample density;
Use positioning assistance devices to calibrate the probe position;
Preheat the machine for 30 minutes and maintain a constant temperature in the laboratory (recommended 25 ± 2 ℃).
2、 Abnormal probe movement (stuttering/abnormal noise)
Performance: The probe moves slowly during the testing process, accompanied by metal friction sound.
Reason:
1. Dust accumulation or dry lubricating grease on the guide rail;
2. Loose or misaligned transmission belt;
3. Load overload triggering protection mechanism.
solve:
Stop the machine immediately! Clean the guide rail with non-woven fabric dipped in alcohol and apply silicone grease;
Adjust the belt tensioner to the standard torque value;
Verify the maximum load-bearing parameters of the sample to avoid exceeding the testing range.
3、 Data acquisition interruption/signal loss
Performance: During the test, the curve suddenly returns to zero and a breakpoint appears.
Reason:
1. Poor contact of USB/RS232 data cable;
2. Electromagnetic interference causes abnormal signal transmission;
3. Insufficient computer memory causes program crashes.
solve:
Replace the original shielded data cable and use an external UPS for stable power supply;
Close irrelevant background programs and increase virtual memory capacity;
Enable the instrument's built-in memory to temporarily store data and synchronize export afterwards.
4、 The deviation of the strength value exceeds the allowable range
Performance: The indication error during standard weight verification is greater than ± 1%.
Reason:
1. The force sensor is aging or damaged by impact;
2. Temperature drift of AD conversion module;
3. Ground vibrations are transmitted to the workbench.
solve:
Perform multi-point calibration using standard weights to generate compensation curves;
Place the instrument on a shock-absorbing platform, away from vibration sources such as centrifuges;
Contact the manufacturer for sensor return calibration.
5、 Software error/communication failure
Performance: The startup software prompts "Device not detected" or a blue screen crash.
Reason:
1. Incompatible driver version;
2. The operating system firewall intercepts communication ports;
3. Poor soldering of motherboard circuit components.
solve:
Uninstall existing drivers and download the latest installation package;
Temporarily disable antivirus software and firewall, add software to the whitelist;
If the issue still cannot be resolved, it is necessary to return to the factory for maintenance of the motherboard.
6、 Principles of emergency response
1. Sudden power outage: Immediately save the current data and recalibrate the zero point after power is restored;
2. Misoperation alarm: Press and hold the red emergency stop button for 5 seconds to force reset, do not force restart;
3. Liquid infiltration: Quickly shut down the power and remove the affected parts, rinse with clean water and dry.
By establishing a regular maintenance system (such as weekly cleaning of guide rails and monthly calibration of sensors) and standardizing operating procedures (to avoid sudden loading), the failure rate can be effectively reduced by over 80%. When encountering complex problems, it is necessary to promptly record error codes and contact the original factory technical support, and avoid blindly disassembling precision components.
