Precautions for using TGA thermogravimetric analyzer
Date: 2025-11-21Read: 0
Key points for sample preparation:Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)The sample should be dry, uniform, and free of volatile impurities, with moderate particle size (usually 10-50mg), to avoid powder flying or block accumulation; Corrosive and explosive samples need to be evaluated in advance and are strictly prohibited from being directly placed in the furnace.
Pre startup inspection: Confirm that the power supply and gas circuit (nitrogen, air, etc.) of the equipment are firmly connected and have good air tightness; Check that there are no residual samples or debris in the furnace, the sealing gasket of the furnace door is intact, and the thermogravimetric sensor is normal.
Parameter setting specifications: Set the heating rate (to avoid data distortion caused by excessive speed), temperature range (not exceeding the rated upper limit of the equipment), and atmosphere type/flow rate based on the characteristics of the sample. The low-temperature section should be fully purged to remove air from the furnace.
Monitoring of the experimental process: During the heating process, closely observe the digital display curve and the operating status of the equipment. If there are abnormal fluctuations, noises, or air leaks in the curve, immediately pause the heating and cooling process, troubleshoot the problem, and then restart; Do not open the furnace door halfway unless necessary to prevent damage to the sensor.
Sample removal and cleaning: After the experiment is completed, allow the furnace to cool naturally to room temperature (usually<50 ℃) before removing the sample crucible; Timely clean the residual ash in the furnace, wipe the crucible support with special tools to avoid contaminating subsequent samples.
Equipment maintenance requirements: Regularly calibrate thermogravimetric sensors and temperature accuracy, replace air path filters; When not in use for a long time, close the main valve of the gas circuit, keep the furnace dry, and keep a record of equipment usage.
Safety operation guidelines:Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)Operators need to be familiar with emergency shutdown procedures and wear insulated gloves; It is strictly prohibited to touch the furnace and crucible under high temperature conditions. After testing corrosive samples, thoroughly clean the crucible and gas path.
