Detection method of handheld ozone concentration monitor
Date: 2025-11-11Read: 2
Handheld ozone concentration monitor is a commonly used instrument for quickly and conveniently detecting the concentration of ozone (O3) in the environment. It is widely used in air quality monitoring, industrial emission detection, indoor air quality detection and other fields. The following are the general methods for using a handheld ozone concentration monitor for detection:
1. Preparation work
Check the status of the instrument: Ensure that the handheld ozone concentration monitor has been fully charged or the battery has been installed, and all functions are normal.
Calibration instruments: Most ozone monitoring devices require calibration before use. Calibration according to the instrument manual usually requires the use of standard ozone gas or other specialized equipment.
Select appropriate detection range: Choose the appropriate instrument range based on the expected range of ozone concentration in the environment to be detected. If the ozone concentration is too high or too low, different ranges need to be selected to ensure accurate test results.
2. Turn on the instrument
Power on: Press the power button to turn on the ozone monitor. Most devices perform self checks during startup to ensure that all functions are functioning properly. After the display screen shows normal information, the measurement can be carried out.
Setting parameters: Some monitoring devices may allow users to set measurement units (such as ppm or mg/m ³) and sampling time parameters, and adjust them as needed.
3. Select the measurement location
Environmental selection: Choose a representative location for ozone concentration measurement, avoiding measuring in places with high wind speeds or complex airflow to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.
Avoid interference from pollution sources: Try to avoid direct contact with pollution sources (such as industrial equipment, exhaust outlets, etc.) to avoid inaccurate impact on test results.
Ensure air circulation: The measurement area should be well ventilated to avoid excessive or insufficient ozone concentration caused by poor air circulation.
4. Start measuring
Maintain stability: Aim the probe of the monitor at a well ventilated area and keep it stable to avoid affecting the measurement.
Waiting for Sampling: Some handheld ozone monitors have built-in pumps or automatic sampling functions, which can collect samples in seconds to minutes. The instrument will automatically detect the concentration of ozone in the surrounding air during this period.
Real time display: The instrument usually displays the measured value of the current ozone concentration in real time on the display screen. If the instrument supports data storage function, the data during the measurement process can be saved for further analysis.
5. Record and analyze data
Data recording: After the measurement is completed, record the ozone concentration data on the display screen or save the data to the instrument memory. Some handheld monitoring devices also have wireless transmission or Bluetooth capabilities, which can transfer data to a computer or smart device for further analysis.
Data analysis: Determine whether the ozone concentration meets environmental standards (such as national environmental standards or industry standards) based on the test results, and develop corresponding corrective measures or reports accordingly.
6. End measurement
Turn off the instrument: After the measurement is completed, press the turn off button to turn off the instrument and avoid battery waste.
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean the sensor part of the monitor to maintain its accuracy. Wipe the sensor surface with a clean soft cloth to avoid dirt accumulation.
Check battery: If the instrument battery is low, it can be replaced or charged in a timely manner to ensure that there is no low battery during the next use.
7. Regular calibration and maintenance
Regular calibration: In order to ensure the accuracy of measurement results, handheld ozone concentration monitors need to be calibrated regularly, usually recommended every 3 months or based on actual usage frequency.
Maintain sensors: Sensors are the core part of ozone concentration monitoring devices. Regularly check the working status of sensors to avoid measurement deviation caused by sensor aging or contamination.
8. Precautions
Environmental influencing factors: Factors such as temperature, humidity, and air pressure in the air may affect the measurement results of ozone, so testing needs to be conducted under appropriate environmental conditions.
Avoid high concentration interference: If the ozone concentration is too high, the handheld monitor may exceed the range. In this case, it is necessary to adjust the range in a timely manner or choose a higher range device for detection.
Avoid contact with ozone sources: If the ozone source itself has a high concentration (such as near an ozone generator or other equipment), direct contact should be avoided to avoid damage to the equipment.
Through the above steps, you can use a handheld ozone concentration monitor to accurately detect the ozone concentration in the air and perform corresponding analysis and reporting.
