Let's learn about the working principle of the microwave chemical synthesis extractor!
Date: 2025-09-10Read: 0
  Microwave chemical synthesis extractorIt is a laboratory equipment that combines microwave heating and chemical synthesis/extraction technology. Its core advantage lies in an efficient, uniform, and controllable heating method, which can significantly shorten reaction time, improve yield, and reduce by-product generation.
  Microwave chemical synthesis extractorThe essence of it is to use the dielectric heating effect of microwaves to achieve energy transfer, rather than traditional "thermal conduction/radiation". Its core principle can be broken down into two points:
1. Energy characteristics of microwaves
Microwaves are electromagnetic waves with frequencies ranging from 300MHz to 300GHz, and their energy can be absorbed by "polar molecules"
Polarized molecules generate frictional heat in microwave electric fields due to dipole rotation;
If there are ions in the system, they will undergo directional motion in the electric field and collide with surrounding molecules to generate heat.
The two functions work together to achieve "uniform and rapid heating inside the system", avoiding the temperature gradient problem of "external heating and internal cooling" in traditional heating.
2. Differential mechanism of synthesis and extraction
Microwave chemical synthesis: Microwave heating can precisely act on polar molecules in the reaction system, increasing the molecular motion rate and collision frequency, while reducing the activation energy of the reaction, thereby accelerating the reaction process, and even inducing "microwave specific reactions" that are difficult to occur under traditional conditions.
Microwave assisted extraction: Microwave energy is preferentially absorbed by polar solvents in the extraction system or polar components in the sample, rapidly heating up to rupture the cell structure, and accelerating the diffusion rate of the solvent, thereby efficiently dissolving the target substance. Compared with Soxhlet extraction, the extraction time can be shortened from a few hours to a few minutes, and the amount of solvent used can be reduced by more than 50%.
