Make good use of this' key light 'to bring farmland management into the era of precision
Date: 2025-12-08Read: 2

Today, what I want to share is not an unattainable concept, but a technology that has already matured and is profoundly changing planting methods - multispectral sensing. It may not be as comprehensive as its "brother" hyperspectral, but it focuses on key areas and provides a cost-effective "problem-solving approach" for smart agriculture.

1、 Challenge: What else do we need beyond experience?

Agricultural cultivation has accumulated countless wisdom over thousands of years. But to this day, relying solely on experience is no longer sufficient to meet the challenges of large-scale and refined management:

This area looks a bit yellow, is it due to a lack of water or fertilizer

Can medication only be administered to those lines with&disease, instead of covering them all

How to objectively evaluate the yield potential of different plots of land

The core of these issues lies in the lack of quantitative and visual global insights into crop growth status. We need to go beyond the limitations of the human eye and see the 'digital expression' of crop health status.

2、 Core: Multispectral - Capturing the 'Key Health Signals' of Crops

Multispectral technology was born for this purpose. It is not like the human eye only considering "color" comprehensively, but directly reflects the core physiological indicators of crops by separating several to dozens of key, discrete spectral bands (such as the red edge band sensitive to chlorophyll, the near-infrared band sensitive to water, etc.).

Simply put, it is like an experienced "traditional Chinese medicine" that quickly and accurately determines the "health status" and "nutritional balance" of crops through several key diagnostic steps in "observation, hearing, questioning, and cutting" (rather than whole body precision scanning).

The mission of Aopu Tiancheng is to solidify this diagnostic capability into a series of reliable and easy-to-use hardware products:

Online multispectral monitoring: Like a "farmland patrol officer", quickly obtain vegetation index maps (such as NDVI) of large areas of farmland, clearly presenting differences in growth, emergence rate, and lodging areas, and guiding variable operations.

Handheld multi spectrometer: transform into a "field scout", agricultural technicians can measure points anytime and anywhere, obtain real-time data on chlorophyll relative content, nitrogen status, etc., and achieve precise guidance.

Online sorting and monitoring system: In the post production stage, specific bands are used to efficiently identify defects, grade products, and enhance the value of agricultural products.

3、 Value: Precise policy implementation, visible cost reduction and efficiency improvement

Technology is alive because it solves practical problems. Multispectral data is directly driving the transformation of agricultural decision-making:

Variable Fertilization and Irrigation: In the 10000 acre wheat demonstration area in North China, our multispectral drone is used to generate growth difference maps, combined with prescription map technology, to achieve on-demand allocation of fertilization and irrigation amounts. Practice has proven that under the same yield target, fertilizer application can be reduced by 5-10%, and water resource utilization efficiency can be significantly improved.

Targeted prevention and control of pests and diseases: By identifying areas of crop stress caused by pests and diseases (usually manifested as declining growth), the target area for pesticide application can be accurately delineated, avoiding whole field spraying and reducing pesticide use by about 8%. This not only protects the environment but also saves costs.

Yield estimation and harvest planning: In large farms, yield prediction models can be established through multispectral monitoring of key growth stages of crops, providing early data support for warehousing, logistics, and sales planning.

Concept: Make precision agriculture a universal tool

We are well aware that whether a technology can take root in the agricultural field depends on whether it is precise, easy to use, and cost-effective. Multispectral technology is an important choice for us after gaining a profound understanding of the practical needs of agriculture. It balances performance, cost, and reliability, allowing most agricultural operators to take the first step towards precise management.

The picture of precision agriculture is slowly unfolding. Multispectral technology, as a solid and bright example, has demonstrated enormous practical value. Aopu Tiancheng looks forward to working together with more growers, cooperatives, agricultural service providers, and research partners to explore how to use smarter "eyes" to protect the abundance of every piece of land.
