Six simple steps to operate Thermo Fisher Scientific drug testing weighing scale
Date: 2025-10-16Read: 1
Thermo Fisher Scientific drug testing weighing scaleSpecially designed for drug production, in compliance with strict GMP standards, ensuring precise weight of each tablet and capsule through automated testing (deviation is usually controlled within ± 1% - ± 3%). The following six step operation process is simple and easy to learn, and can be mastered within 5 minutes.
Step 1: Power on and self-test
Connect the power supply (220V ± 10%), press the power button to start the device, and wait for 30 seconds for the self-test to complete (the screen displays "READY" indicating that the system is normal). The self check content includes sensor initialization (detecting zero offset), conveyor motor testing (confirming no abnormal noise during operation), and display screen function verification (sensitive button response). If the self-test fails (such as displaying "ERROR"), it is necessary to check whether the power cord is loose and whether there are foreign objects (such as tablet debris) stuck in the conveyor belt.
Step 2: Parameter Setting
Enter the "Parameter Settings" menu through the touch screen, and input the target weight (such as 100mg/tablet), allowable error range (such as ± 2% or 98-102mg), and product length (for conveyor belt speed matching, such as setting the conveying speed of 0.2m/s for 10mm tablets) based on the current drug specifications. The Thermo Fisher Scientific weighing scale supports pre stored multiple sets of parameters (up to 50 sets), which can be directly called when switching products (to avoid duplicate input). Attention: Strict error limits should be set according to pharmacopoeia standards for initial use (such as sterile injection deviation<± 1%).
Step 3: Calibration
Take the original standard weight from Thermo Fisher Scientific (e.g. 100g, accuracy ± 0.01g), place it in the center of the scale (to avoid eccentricity), and press the "Calibrate" button. The device automatically detects the weight of the weight and compares it with the nominal value. If the deviation is greater than ± 0.1% (such as displaying 99.8g), the system will prompt "calibration failure". At this time, it is necessary to check whether the scale pan is clean (wipe with anhydrous ethanol cotton ball), whether the sensor is loose (tighten the screw torque of 1.5-2N · m), and recalibrate until it passes. After calibration is completed, verify with a sample of known weight (such as 10 standard tablets) (calculate the deviation between the average weight and the standard value, which should be<± 0.5%).

Step 4: Loading and Conveying
Place the drugs to be tested (such as tablets and capsules) evenly in the feeding hopper (to avoid accumulation and blockage, with a feeding speed of<50 tablets/minute), and the conveyor belt will automatically deliver the products to the weighing area (above the central sensor). The operator needs to observe the conveying process and leave only a single layer of tablets in the weighing area.
Step 5: Weight detection and sorting
When the drug passes through the weighing sensor, the device completes weight measurement within 0.1 seconds (accuracy ± 0.01g) and compares it with the preset target value. Qualified products are indicated by a green indicator light (or directly enter the packaging line), while overweight/underweight products trigger a red alarm and are sorted to the exclusion channel (separated by pneumatic push rods or baffles, with a speed of less than 0.3 seconds per piece). The operation screen displays real-time detection data (including current weight, cumulative pass rate, and number of deviations), and the statistical report is updated every minute.
Step 6: Shutdown and Cleaning
After production is completed, stop feeding first (close the feeding hopper valve), wait for all remaining drugs on the conveyor belt to be tested (the screen displays "IDLE"), and press the "shutdown" button. Wipe the surface of the scale pan and conveyor belt with anhydrous ethanol cotton balls (to remove residual powder and prevent corrosion), clean the feeding hopper and removal channel (to avoid blockage). When the device is not in use for a long time (>24 hours), the power cord should be unplugged and covered with a dust cover to prevent dust from entering the sensor.
These six steps coverThermo Fisher Scientific drug testing weighing scaleThe entire process not only complies with GMP compliance requirements, but also allows operators to quickly grasp and ensure the accurate and reliable weight of each drug, safeguarding drug quality and safety.
