The usage process of a single tank FRITSCH high-energy planetary grinder
Date: 2025-10-21Read: 2
The usage process of a single tank FRITSCH high-energy planetary grinder includes six key steps: equipment preparation, loading of samples and grinding media, parameter setting, operation monitoring, sample processing, and equipment maintenance. The specific operations are as follows:
1、 Equipment preparation and inspection
Placing and powering on
Place the ball mill on a flat, open, and stable platform, ensuring that there are no obstacles around it. Connect the power cord and check if the voltage meets the device requirements (e.g. Pulverisetter 6 supports 100-120V/200-240V).
Appearance and component inspection
Check whether the appearance of the equipment is damaged and whether the power plug is firmly inserted into the socket.
Turn on the instrument and run it idle for 3-5 minutes, observe whether the dashboard display is normal, and determine if there is any abnormal noise inside the machine during operation.
Grinding tank and grinding ball selection
Select grinding jars and grinding balls that match the material based on the properties of the sample, such as hardness and brittleness. For example:
Hard samples: Use zirconia or tungsten carbide materials to avoid excessive wear of the tank body and grinding ball.
Soft or damp samples: Stainless steel or plastic wrapped stainless steel material can be selected.
The volume of the grinding tank is usually 80-250ml, and the diameter range of the grinding ball is 10-40mm, which needs to be ordered separately.
2、 Sample and grinding medium loading
Sample preparation
Crush the sample to an appropriate particle size (e.g.<10mm) to ensure suitability for ball milling.
Samples that are prone to oxidation or deliquescence should be treated under inert gas protection (such as using special grinding bowl lids).
Loading ratio
The total volume of samples, grinding balls, and grinding aids (if any) should not exceed 2/3 of the volume of the grinding tank. It is generally recommended to:
Ball to material ratio: 5:1-10:1 (used in combination with large, medium, and small balls, with large balls crushing the sample and small balls mixed and ground).
Sample loading capacity: 1/3-2/3 of the grinding tank capacity, to avoid overfilling and poor grinding effect or tank damage.
Sealing and fixing
Tighten the lid of the grinding jar to ensure a good seal (use sealing rings or sealant if necessary).
Install the grinding tank on the rotating arm of the ball mill, fix it with a special fixture, and place two tanks diagonally on the main wheel disc or fill four tanks to balance the equipment.
3、 Parameter setting
Speed selection
Set the main disk speed according to the sample hardness (such as 100-650rpm for Pulverisetter 6 and up to 800rpm for Pulverisetter 7).
The recommended initial speed is 200-500rpm, and it can be adjusted according to the grinding effect in the future.
Time and mode settings
Grinding time: Soft samples may take several hours, while hard samples may take several days. The initial time can be set first, and then adjusted after regular sampling and testing.
Grinding mode:
Continuous grinding: suitable for scenarios with high efficiency requirements and stable samples.
Intermittent grinding: reduces sample overheating and grinding ball wear, suitable for temperature sensitive or finely ground samples.
Other parameters
Set cooling time and grinding sequence (e.g. Pulverisetter 5 supports programmatic repetition of 99 grinding cycles).
Choose the rotation direction (unidirectional or bidirectional).
4、 Operation and monitoring
Start the device
After confirming that the parameters are correct, press the "Start" button. After the device is powered on, run it at low speed for more than ten seconds, and then adjust it to high speed if there are no abnormalities.
process monitoring
Regularly inspect the grinding condition of materials through observation windows or observation holes.
Monitor the sound of the machine running and immediately shut down for inspection if there are any abnormalities.
Ensure that no one leaves during the grinding process to prevent accidents.
5、 Sample processing and collection
Shutdown and tank retrieval
After the grinding time is reached, the equipment automatically stops. Press the 'stop' button and wait for the machine to completely stop.
Let it sit for a few minutes until the grinding tank cools down. Carefully remove the tank and be careful to prevent slipping and scalding.
Sample separation and collection
Pour out the ground sample and grinding ball, separate and filter them using a screening instrument, and select the sample with the required particle size for the experiment.
For samples adhered to the inner wall of the tank or grinding ball, they can be washed with alcohol or water and combined.
6、 Equipment maintenance and cleaning
Cleaning of grinding tank and grinding ball
Clean immediately after use to avoid sample residue. Rinse with clean water and wipe with alcohol if necessary.
The grinding components are easy to clean and ensure no contamination.
Equipment Maintenance
Regularly check whether the equipment components are intact and clean foreign objects inside and outside the tank.
Keep the instrument and electrical control parts dry, and do not operate with wet hands.
The continuous working hours of the equipment must meet the requirements to avoid overload operation.
