The core of cleaning and maintaining graphite heating plates is to avoid mechanical damage and chemical corrosion, while standardizing operating procedures, which can significantly extend their service life and ensure heating accuracy.
1、 Daily cleaning steps (to be performed after power off and cooling)
Surface dust cleaning
Gently wipe the surface of the heating plate with a dry, soft dust-free cloth or medical degreasing cotton to remove dry pollutants such as dust and powder. Do not use rough cloths or hard brushes to avoid scratching the graphite coating.
Stain and residue treatment
If there is a small amount of liquid residue (such as water or alcohol), wipe it with a dust-free cloth dipped in a small amount of deionized water, and then dry the surface with a dry cloth to prevent moisture from seeping into the gaps.
If there are stubborn stains (such as organic residue or sample scab), you can first wet a cloth with a small amount of ethanol or isopropanol, gently wipe the stained area, and prohibit the use of strong acids, strong bases (such as hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide solution) or corrosive solvents (such as acetone) to avoid damaging the graphite structure.
Gap and edge cleaning
Gently clean the debris at the edges of the heating plate, wiring ports, and other gaps with a soft brush (such as a wool brush) to avoid the accumulation of impurities that may affect heat dissipation or cause circuit faults.
2、 Key points for long-term maintenance
Check before use
Before starting up each time, check whether there are cracks, bulges or coating peeling on the graphite surface. If such situations occur, stop immediately to avoid danger caused by excessive local temperature during heating.
Check if the power cord, plug, and temperature control interface are intact, ensuring that the circuit connection is normal and not loose or damaged.
Standardize heating operations
Avoid empty burning: Do not heat for a long time without placing the sample container (such as beaker, crucible), as empty burning can cause local overheating of graphite and accelerate aging.
Temperature control: Strictly operate within the rated temperature range of the heating plate, not exceeding the maximum operating temperature (usually 400-600 ℃, refer to the equipment manual for details), to prevent graphite from carbonizing or deforming due to high temperature.
Avoid impact: Handle the sample gently when placing or removing it, and do not use the container to impact the graphite surface to prevent mechanical damage.
Environment and Storage Maintenance
The usage environment should be kept dry and ventilated, avoiding long-term storage in damp (relative humidity>80%) or dusty environments to prevent graphite from being affected by moisture, oxidation, or contamination by impurities.
When not in use for a long time, it is necessary to cover the heating plate with a clean dust cover and store it in a room at room temperature, dry, and away from direct sunlight or corrosive gases (such as laboratory acid-base reagent cabinets).
3、 Taboos (Core Avoidance Points)
Do not rinse the heating plate directly with water or allow liquid to seep into the interior of the equipment to avoid short circuits or damage to the temperature control system.
Do not use metal tools (such as tweezers, scrapers) to directly scrape off surface residues to prevent scratching the graphite coating.
Do not stack the heating plate with other heavy objects to avoid deformation of the graphite plate due to pressure.
When there is a malfunction (such as temperature loss or surface damage), it is forbidden to disassemble and repair it by oneself. Professional after-sales personnel should be contacted for handling.
