What are the application scenarios of vortex gas flow meters?
Date: 2025-07-25Read: 32
Vortex gas flowmeterThe core principle is the Karman vortex street effect: when a fluid (gas) flows through a non streamlined cylindrical object perpendicular to the flow direction, vortices with opposite rotation directions will alternate on both sides downstream of the object. The frequency of these vortices is directly proportional to the flow velocity of the fluid, and by detecting the vortex frequency, the flow rate of the fluid can be calculated.

Vortex gas flowmeterIts characteristics are small pressure loss, large measurement range, high accuracy, and it is almost unaffected by parameters such as fluid density, pressure, temperature, viscosity, etc. when measuring volumetric flow rate under working conditions. No movable mechanical parts, therefore high reliability and low maintenance. The instrument parameters can remain stable for a long time.

Vortex gas flowmeterApplication scenarios:

1. Industrial production:

Used in industries such as metallurgy, power, coal, chemical, and petroleum to measure and control the flow of gases, liquids, and steam, ensuring stable production processes.

For example: boiler air volume monitoring, chemical process control, water treatment aeration flow measurement.

2. Energy metering:

Measure the flow of primary energy (such as coal, crude oil, natural gas) and secondary energy (such as electricity, steam) to provide data support for energy management.

For example, gas pipeline flow monitoring and steam network metering.

3. Environmental Protection:

Monitor the discharge flow of smoke, waste liquid, sewage, etc. to assist in environmental compliance management.

For example, flow control in flue gas desulfurization systems and flow monitoring in wastewater treatment plants.

4. Transportation:

The key tool for control, allocation, and scheduling in pipeline transportation achieves precise management by measuring fluid flow.

For example, monitoring the flow of oil and gas pipeline transportation and measuring the urban gas supply system.

5. Research and Laboratory:

Support gas and liquid flow experiments to provide accurate flow data for research.
