Analysis of Core Technologies and Application Fields in Automation Laboratories
Date: 2025-12-16Read: 1
Automated laboratoryThe core lies in the integration of machinery, sensing, control, and information technology, enabling the experimental process to be executed according to set rules without human or minimal intervention, and achieving full controllability of data collection, processing, and management. Its core technologies cover robot operation, liquid and sample processing, sensing and detection integration, process control, and information management.
1. Robot operation technology isAutomated laboratoryThe foundation for achieving automation of physical actions. Multi joint robotic arms combined with end effectors can perform actions such as pipetting, grasping, opening, sealing, and sample transfer according to coordinates or visual guidance. Positioning accuracy and repeatability are key to ensuring experimental consistency. Liquid processing technology includes precision pipetting, dispensing, and mixing, relying on stepper or servo driven pump valve systems and liquid level detection to ensure accurate volume and prevent cross contamination. Sample processing technology involves sample storage, labeling, sorting, and preprocessing. With the help of automatic samplers and conveyor systems, it can achieve orderly circulation of bulk samples at a constant temperature or in a specific atmosphere.
2. The integration of sensing and detection technology enables equipment to obtain real-time experimental status and data. Optical, electrochemical, temperature, pressure, and image sensors are distributed in various execution stages to convert physical quantities into analyzable signals. The detection instrument unit is connected to the control system through standardized interfaces to achieve synchronous data collection and real-time feedback. Process control technology relies on programmable logic and industrial buses to arrange each subsystem into a continuous or parallel task chain according to experimental plans, and can be dynamically adjusted to respond to abnormal or changing requirements. Information management technology includes experimental method storage, operation log recording, data archiving and tracing, and is used in conjunction with laboratory information management systems to achieve cross device and cross batch information integration and sharing.
3. The application fields widely cover life sciences and medical research, drug development, environmental monitoring, food safety, and material screening. In the field of life sciences, high-throughput tasks such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR system construction, and sequencing library preparation can be completed to reduce manual errors and improve sample throughput. In drug development, automated platforms are used for compound library management, high-throughput screening, and formulation optimization, which can complete activity and stability testing under a large number of conditions in a short period of time. The field of environmental monitoring utilizes automated sampling and multi parameter analysis to achieve continuous monitoring and data uploading of pollutants in air, water, and soil. Food safety testing improves testing efficiency and reduces labor costs through batch sample pretreatment and rapid analysis. In materials science, automated systems can perform multi-step processes of powder preparation, sintering, and performance testing, accelerating the screening process of new materials.
4. The advantages are reflected in improving experimental efficiency, ensuring operational consistency, reducing human error and safety risks, and enabling long-term continuous operation and remote monitoring. Its implementation requires comprehensive consideration of spatial layout, equipment compatibility, standardization of methods, and personnel training. The system should have fault self diagnosis and emergency stop functions, and key components should be regularly calibrated and maintained to ensure stable performance in all aspects. Data security and access control are equally important, and permission management and auditing mechanisms should be established to prevent unauthorized modifications and leaks.
Automated laboratoryThe core technology is based on mechanical and liquid processing, combined with sensing detection and process information management, to achieve automation and intelligence of the entire experimental process. Its application areas cover the quality control process of scientific research and production, providing effective support for high-throughput, high-precision, and high reliability experiments.
