Vertical torch tubeIt is a key component in inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), with a unique design and significant functionality. With the design of vertical placement, the spray hole is located in the vertical direction of the torch tube, which is compact and relatively simple. This design allows the sample to flow vertically along the center of the torch tube after atomization, directly entering the flame for atomization. Torch tubes are typically made of metal and high-temperature resistant materials, such as quartz or special alloys, to ensure stability and durability in high-temperature environments. Part of the high-density torch tubes adopt an integrated design, fused together, easy to install, and can automatically locate the argon plasma torch tube and connect it to gas, achieving fast start-up and good repeatability.
Vertical torch tubeThe installation guide is as follows:
1、 Preparation before installation
Equipment inspection
Ensure that the torch tube has no physical damage (such as cracks, deformations), and there are no residues or blockages inside.
Check the compatibility between the torch tube and the plasma lamp holder, and confirm that the interface size and thread specifications are consistent.
Prepare installation tools: dust-free gloves, specialized wrench, sealing oil, leak detector, high-purity argon gas (≥ 99.999%).
Environmental Requirements
The installation environment should be dry and clean, avoiding dust or corrosive gases.
Ensure that the instrument is powered off and the argon supply is turned off to prevent accidental start-up during operation.
2、 Dismantle the old torch tube (if replacement is required)
Cooling and power outage
After the torch tube cools down to room temperature, turn off the power and gas source of the instrument.
Disassembly steps
Loosen the fixing screws and carefully remove the old torch tube to avoid damaging the coil or surrounding components.
Remove the cooling air pipe, auxiliary air pipe, and carrier air pipe, mark the interface position for reconnection.
3、 Install a new torch tube
Positioning and Alignment
Align the new torch tube with the positioning slot of the lamp holder, ensuring that it is perfectly aligned with the coil to avoid displacement affecting plasma stability.
Adjust the height of the torch tube to maintain an appropriate distance from the sampling cone and the cutting cone (usually referring to the instrument manual).
Connect the gas path
Carrier tube: Connect to the central tube, apply sealing oil to the interface, rotate and install to ensure sealing.
Auxiliary trachea: Connect to the quick connector below the torch chamber, pay attention to the black circle mark on the interface for installation.
Cooling air pipe: Connect to the interface on the right side of the torch chamber, ensuring that the connection is firm and not loose.
Fixed torch tube
Lower the torch clamp, press down and rotate it half a circle to secure it, avoiding damage caused by excessive force.
Check the distance between the torch tube and the copper screw tube to ensure no contact (two layers of filter paper can be used for testing, and rotation should be unobstructed).
4、 Post installation inspection and testing
airtightness test
Use a leak detector to check all gas path interfaces, observe whether there are any bubbles generated, and dry the leak detector after confirming that there are no leaks.
Ignition test
Restart the argon gas supply and instrument power supply, ignite and observe the plasma morphology.
Adjust power and airflow parameters (such as carrier gas flow rate, cooling gas flow rate) to the recommended range to ensure stable plasma combustion.
performance verification
Run a blank sample and check if the background signal is controllable.
Test standard samples to verify whether the analytical sensitivity and accuracy meet the requirements.
